Provisional agenda for GRSP’s eightieth session to be held 7–11 December 2026 in Geneva. The session will address UN Global Technical Regulations No. 1, 13, and 20; UN Regulations Nos. 11, 17, 21, 22, 95, 100, 127, 129, 134, 145, 170, 173, and 174; a new UN Regulation and authorization request for a GTR on children left in vehicles; collective amendments to UN Regulations affecting automated vehicles; Mutual Resolution No. 1; equitable occupant protection; and other business items including vehicle automation, software updates, airbags, child restraint systems, and bus protection.

Minutes from the 27th meeting of GRSP TF on AVRS held Wednesday 1st July 2026 online. The agenda and previous minutes were approved. EC reported from June WP.29-199 TF Expert FADS and presented WP.29-199-19. GRSP TF AVRS must complete crashworthiness regulation for Category Y and Pedestrian Protection R127, GRE TF AVSR ADS marker lamps, GRE IWG EMC refinements for ADS in 10R08, and GRPE TF AVRS amendments to UN Regulation No. 154. Regarding amendment proposals to UN Regulations Nos. 35 (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/2026/104) and 68 (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/2026/146), AC.1 postponed voting to the next session due to required quorum not being attained. EC presented updates on Y-category regulatory framework for N₁, Y-category Pedestrian Protection UN Reg 127, and UN Regulation No. 42 and 134. Next meetings scheduled 4th September, 5th October, week 4, 24th November or 1st December, and 7–11 December.

Proposal to amend para. 2.1. to define “appropriate adaptor” as specified by the CHSS manufacturer and clarify container valve and end plug components, amend paras. 5.1.1., 5.1.2., 5.2., 9.2.1., 9.2.3.2. and Annex 3 para. 2.1. to specify that connections between supply lines for additional TPRDs and appropriate adaptors meet test requirements and are within scope, delete “hydraulic” in para. 9.2.1. to permit gas as test option, and amend Annex 3 para. 5.1. to remove reference to appropriate adaptors for fire testing.

Report on the status of deliverables to 79th GRSP session. Expected deliverables include working documents for transposition of optional part of GTR13 on liquified hydrogen (December 2025), updating ISO 17268-1:2025 reference for receptacle geometry (December 2025), and incorporating periodic inspection requirements into UN Regulation No. 134 (May 2026, WP.29-2026-56e). Additional deliverables include recommendations for IWG GTR 13 Phase 3 and way forward for material compatibility requirements (July 2026). TF-H2 also recommended clarifications to UN-R 134/03 regarding ‘appropriate adaptor’ definition and changes to related paragraphs, with informal document due December 2026.

Proposal to amend para. 2.1. to specify that an appropriate adaptor means a test component specified by the CHSS manufacturer that substitutes for the container valve, additional TPRD, and end plug, and includes an outlet with the proper fitting size and geometry to connect the supply line to the additional TPRD if applicable, with a note defining container valve and end plug, amend para. 5.1.1. to require that connections between the supply line for additional TPRDs and appropriate adaptor(s) shall meet the requirements and are within the scope of the test, amend para. 5.1.2. to require that connections between the supply line for additional TPRDs and appropriate adaptor(s) shall meet the requirements and are within the scope of the test, amend para. 5.2. to require that connections between the supply line for additional TPRDs and appropriate adaptor(s) shall meet the requirements and are within the scope of the test, and amend Annex 3 para. 5.1. to delete “through appropriate adaptors” from the requirement regarding supply lines for additional TPRDs.

Proposal to amend the definition of ‘appropriate adaptor’ to specify that it is a test component specified by the manufacturer that substitutes for the container valve, additional TPRD, and/or end plug, modify para. 5.1.1. to require that three containers as well as supply lines for additional TPRDs through appropriate adaptors be hydraulically pressurized until burst, modify para. 5.1.2. to require that three containers as well as supply lines for additional TPRDs through appropriate adaptors be hydraulically pressure cycled without rupture for 22,000 cycles, and modify para. 5.2. to require that one container equipped with container attachments and supply lines for additional TPRDs through appropriate adaptors be tested, with connections between supply line and adaptor meeting requirements and worst-case approach applicable at discretion of Technical Service and Type Approval Authority.

Proposal to amend para. 2.1. to specify that appropriate adaptors are test components designated by the CHSS manufacturer substituting for the container valve, additional TPRD, and end plug, modify paras. 5.1.1., 5.1.2., 5.2., 9.2.1., and 9.2.3.2. to clarify that connections between supply lines for additional TPRDs and appropriate adaptors shall meet test requirements and are within the scope of the test, amend para. 9.2.1. to delete references to hydraulic mating connections, and modify Annex 3 para. 5.1. to include supply lines for additional TPRDs in the CHSS test article.

Proposal to amend Annex 3 para. 5.1. to specify that the CHSS test article shall include the container and primary closure devices such as shut-off valve(s), check valve(s), and TPRD required to isolate the system, container attachments including gas housings or barriers that could impede TPRD response, as well as supply lines for additional TPRDs through appropriate adaptors, and vent lines shall be connected to TPRDs to direct TPRD exhausts in a manner representative of the configuration in the vehicle.

Test agencies expressed concern about knowing the material and fitting configuration of adapters in advance of testing. One agency suggested adapter material should match the original valve material strength. Agencies agreed small diameter supply lines present no pressure and temperature issues but suggested mandating a one to two second hold at maximum pressure during cycles. Test agencies questioned whether adapters and TPRD plugs are considered part of the test and whether leakage constitutes failure. Components not covered by UN R134 should be tested per ISO 19887-1.

Proposal to amend Annex 3 paragraph 5.1 regarding the CHSS test article. The modification adds supply lines for additional TPRDs through appropriate adaptors to the required test article components, and clarifies that vent lines shall be connected to TPRDs to direct TPRD exhausts in a manner representative of the configuration in the vehicle. The task force identified contradicting language in the regulation regarding supply lines for additional TPRDs and aims to correct this inconsistency.

The agenda includes continuation of supply line discussions, corrections to UN R134/03, clarifications needed in UN R134/03 with responses from test labs, next steps, and scheduling of next meetings.

Proposal to extend UN R134 to vehicles of category X (excluding vehicles of category Y), add provisions for Periodic Technical Inspections, modify hydrogen concentration warning requirements for ADS features of type 2 to transmit logic signals to the ADS, and adjust test cycle specifications in Annex 3.

Proposal to amend Annex 3, table 3, column “Number of cycles,” first row, is amended to read “60 per cent of initial cycle life (11 000 cycles).” and Annex 3, table 4, column “Number of cycles,” first and second rows, is amended to read “20 per cent of initial cycle life (11 000 cycles).”
