| UN R100: Proposal for a guidance document on the "type of REESS" |
| Reference Number: GRSP/2026/26 |
|
Guidance document on interpreting “type of REESS” (Rechargeable Electrical Energy Storage System) as defined in paragraph 2.48. of UN Regulation No. 100. The document establishes that when judging whether differences are significant, the evaluation should be from the perspective of whether the difference has a substantial impact on the safety performance of the REESS as required by UN Regulation No. 100. It provides consideration on essential aspects including manufacturer’s trade name or mark, chemistry, capacity and physical dimensions of cells, number of cells and mode of connection, construction and materials of casing, and ancillary devices for physical support, thermal management and electronic control. |
