|
Proposal to amend and supersede document ECE/TRANS/GRSG/2025/20 as amended by GRSG-130-65. This document amends and supersedes ECE/TRANS/GRSG/2025/20 as amended by GRSG-130-65. Supplement 1 to the 07 series of amendments to UN R46 (Indirect vision) is introduced to take into account vehicles of categories X and Y, as well as vehicles with a manual mode equipped with an Automated Driving System. The scope is updated to exclude vehicles of category Y from the Regulation, since such vehicles do not have a driver and therefore do not need to provide indirect vision. |

Proposal to clarify opaque obscuration in indirect vision devices. The proposal inserts a definition of opaque obscuration and amends paragraph 15.1.4 to correct a reference to UN R43, Annex 24 rather than Annex 21. Paragraph 15.2.4.9.1 is amended to exclude areas of opaque obscuration from obstruction calculations for Class I rear-view devices, treating them similarly to mandatory rubber sealings used for window mounting. |

| Reference Number: GRSG-127-04/Rev.2 |
|
The Working Party on the Transport of Dangerous Goods (WP.15) has noted that problems could arise during the approval of vehicles intended for the carriage of explosive substances and articles (Class 1) for vehicles intended for the carriage of liquids having a flash-point of not more than 60°C. (EX/III and FL vehicles) fitted with a camera monitoring system which complied with the requirements of UN R46. The European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR) stipulates that the electrical circuits must be broken within 10 seconds after operation of the battery master switch. This might conflict with paragraph 16.1.1. of UN R46 which requires that, after each engine switch-off (intended use), the camera-monitor system remains operational for a period of at least 120 seconds. This proposal aims to resolve the disparity between UN R46 and requirements for ADS vehicles. |

| UN R46: Application to Vehicles for International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR) |
| Reference Number: GRSG/2024/13 |
|
The Working Party on the Transport of Dangerous Goods (WP.15) during its 114th session noted, on the basis of INF.18 from Germany, that problems could arise during the approval of vehicles intended for the carriage of explosive substances and articles (Class 1) for vehicles intended for the carriage of liquids having a flash-point of not more than 60°C (EX/III and FL vehicles) fitted with a camera monitoring system which complied with the requirements of UN R46. Paragraph 9.2.2.8.3. of the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR) stipulates that the electrical circuits must be broken within 10 seconds after operation of the battery master switch. This might conflict with paragraph 16.1.1. of UN R46 which requires that, after each engine switch-off (intended use), the camera-monitor system remains operational for a period of at least 120 seconds. This document relates to the establishment of a GRSG task force on UN R46 to resolve this concern. |

Proposal to clarify that overlays may only be used to convey “safety-related rearward vision information.” The proposal addresses confusion regarding circumstances under which the provision of information through overlays is permissible. The proposal also amends the French text. The overall proposal aims to make clear that overlays may convey safety information regarding the rearward environment of the vehicle and are not necessarily limited only to when the vehicle is moving in reverse. The proposal also aims to restrict the information to rear-vision safety. Other information, not related to the rear view, should never appear within the defined field of view. The proposal also corrects the omission of Class VII devices from the communication form described under Annex 3 of the regulation, as previously adopted for Revisions 5 and 6. |

| Revised proposal for amendments to the 04 series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 46 |
| Reference Number: GRSG-113-17/Rev.1 |
|
Proposal as amended following GRSG discussions to clarify the camera monitor provisions with regard to the use of image overlays. The current English text can be interpreted to allow overlays only when the vehicle is moving in reverse. In particular, this resulted in an unambiguous translation into French allowing overlays only when the vehicle is in reverse gear. The original intent was to limit overlays to rear views of the vehicle regardless of the moving vehicle direction. Therefore, this proposal clarifies the English and French texts. |

| Pixel fault test procedures to determine worst case probabilities |
| Reference Number: CMS II-03-09 |
|
Explanation of pixel fault testing. Pixel faults arise erratically across production and cannot be directly quantified by testing product samples. Moreover, pixel faults are a problem only when they affect visual perceptions of the driver. Therefore, the testing needs to determine the probability for a “disturbing” disruption of the image that could significantly interfere with a driver’s perception of the image. |
