Proposal to amend the title of Annex 5 to read “Vehicle user warnings and inducement methods of the Excess Exhaust Emissions Driver Warning System”, amend para. 1 to expand scope to include vehicle user warning systems, amend para. 2 to add abbreviations for Automated Driving System, Hybrid-Electric Vehicle, and Internal Combustion Engine, add new paras. 3.22 to 3.28 defining ADS user, vehicle user, Excess Exhaust Emissions Driver Warning System, SCR warning, SCR inducement, OBM warning, and OBM inducement, amend para. 7.2.1 to specify EEEDWS functions including assigning OBM monitoring status, providing vehicle user warnings, and limiting vehicle use through inducement methods, delete para. 7.9.5, amend Annex 4 paras. 1.9.1, 2.5, 2.6.2, and 2.8.2(b) to clarify OBM system parameters, amend Table 10.1 to retitle as “Vehicle information”, amend Appendix 1 table lines 1.2, 1.43, 1.52, and 3.8 to clarify OBM parameters and add inducement distance parameters, amend Appendix 5 notes and references regarding virtual distance calculations, amend Annex 5 title and paras. 1, 2.2.6.1, 2.2.7.1–2.2.7.4.1, 2.2.8.1, 2.2.8.3, 2.3.1, 2.3.1.3, 2.3.1.5.2, 2.3.5.1–2.3.5.2, 2.4.1.2, 2.4.2.1, 2.4.3.1–2.4.3.2, and 2.4.4.3.1 to establish vehicle user warning and inducement requirements including distance counters, warning display conditions, and inducement activation thresholds, amend Annex 6 para. 2.4 and Appendix 1 regarding small-volume manufacturers, amend Annex 8 paras. 2.10.1 and Appendix 1 to clarify electrical energy consumption calculations, and amend Annex 9 para. 3 to expand technical documentation requirements regarding data integrity.

Proposal to amend UN R180 to incorporate vehicles with Automated Driving Systems. Changes include adding ADS abbreviation and definitions for “ADS user” and “Vehicle user”; amending terminology throughout from “driver” to “vehicle user” or “driver and/or ADS”; introducing the Excess Exhaust Emissions Driver/user Warning System definition; modifying accelerator pedal references to include torque demand from ADS; and clarifying that warnings shall be sent to the ADS, which will then inform the relevant ADS user.

Proposal to amend UN Regulation No. 180 to incorporate vehicles with Automated Driving Systems. Modifications include adding ADS-related abbreviations and definitions, updating the excess exhaust emissions driver warning system to apply to ADS users, and revising monitoring parameters to account for torque demand from automated systems. Changes enable type approval of vehicles equipped with Automated Driving Systems.

Proposal to establish requirements for the type approval of on-board monitoring (OBM) systems that:

1. detect vehicle exhaust emissions exceeding prescribed limits,
2. monitor propulsion battery storage capacity and health,
3. warn drivers as warranted, and
4. communicate such information off-board.

Updated amendments to enable application to ADS vehicles, including in-session revisions.

Proposal for a new UN Regulation for Uniform provisions concerning the approval of light duty passenger and commercial vehicles with regards to On-board monitoring (OBM) systems, environmental vehicle passport (EVP) and in-vehicle display of environmental data. An informal document amending this proposal is under development.
