The Working Party on Passive Safety (GRSP) prepares regulatory proposals for consideration by the World Forum/WP.29 concerning secondary safety systems intended to protect occupants in the event of an accident. These “passive” safety systems include such elements as seat belts, airbags, seating, and headrests.
GRSP regularly gathers more than 80 specialists in occupant safety systems from government agencies and non-governmental organizations worldwide and facilitates international cooperation on research and analysis used to develop passive safety requirements for vehicles, including through informal working groups focused on specific challenges.
GRSP usually convenes in May and December of each year.
