Regulation adopted in November 2017 to separate ISOFIX and child restraint system anchorage provisions from UN Regulation No. 14 in order to facilitate implementation of the International Whole Vehicle Type Approval program. This regulation was established in parallel with the 08 series of amendments to UN R14.

The justification clarifies that the definitions are based on tests fulfilled in this Regulation regarding strength rather than CRS category, addresses that the prior ISOFIX position definition incorrectly allowed i-Size CRS installation in non-i-Size positions, and harmonizes inertia loads for M₂ and M₃ vehicles with UN R14. |
