The present requirement for booster with belt guides for the diagonal belt is more stringent than for boosters without belt guides. This proposal aligns the requirement for belt disengagement with the requirements for other child restraint systems ((e.g. the displacement criteria and the criteria as indicated in Annex 15, para. 6.2.4.) and at the same time proposes new language to clarify the affected text.

The text prepared by Spain on behalf of the Technical Services Group (TSG) on Regulation No. 44. The proposed amendment is intended to clarify a number of technical provisions in the regulation.

Across its various groups, WP.29 has been looking at the definitions of technical terms used in its regulations from the standpoint of consistency. The GRSP secretariat has compiled terms and definitions found in the regulations under its purview that differ across regulations (including those under regulations managed by other GR). This document is proposed for consideration as a possible starting point for the development of a “dictionary” of harmonized terms and definitions.

Proposal to clarify that the recently increased height requirements for the effective upper belt anchorage (Supplement 4 to the 07 series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 14) can be satisfied by means of a “belt adjustment device for height” that is part of the belt-anchorage as well as a device that is part of the belt itself, each with a distinctive approach. The proposals are presented as draft Supplement 7 to the 07 series of amendments to Regulation No. 14 and draft Supplement 6 to the 06 series of amendments to Regulation No. 16.

Proposal by the GRSP secretariat to delete Appendix 3 (examination of the mobile impact barrier) to Annex 5 of UN R95. The secretariat suspects that the appendix is superfluous, but wishes to confirm if Appendix 3 should remain for any examination purposes of the Type Approval Authority responsible for the mobile deformable barrier.

Proposal for amendments to clarify and correct the current text of the draft regulation on the safety of electric L-category vehicles.

Updated version of the proposed 01 series of amendments to UN R129 prepared by the Informal Group on Child Restraint Systems. The amendments propose to extend the scope of the regulation to cover non-Integral child restraint systems (“Universal Booster” or “Specific to vehicle Booster”) (Phase 2 of the UN Regulation).

Proposal revising an initial German proposal, with the new suggested requirements under 6.3.1.1, to reduce the risks of a person being unintentionally “full locked” inside a locked vehicle, taking into account the anti-theft benefits of fully locking door systems.

If connectors can be opened without use of tools or if they do not satisfy the IPXXD/IPXXB protection limits, the provisions of 5.1.1.3 have to be met.

Proposal to define the moment of intertia in the luggage-impact test as “0.3 ± 0.05 kgm² (around all 3 principal axis of inertia of the luggage blocks)”. UN R17 presently lacks such a definition, resulting in variations in trajectory and behavior of the luggage cubes before and after impact.

The current text of UN R14 requires the installation of two ISOFIX anchorages in a vehicle. Vehicles with only one seat row are exempted from this requirement. This proposal refines the previous German proposal to introduce provisions for at least one set of ISOFIX anchorages in vehicles having only one seat row or having several seat rows with only one seat per row (document GRSP-53-11) which modified the proposal for Supplement 6 to the 07 series of amendments (document GRSP/2013/15).

The draft Amendment 2 to GTR No. 9 proposes to establish the new FlexPLI impactor as the single harmonized tool for lower leg impact tests. The amendment also proposes injury assessment reference values (IARV) to go with the FlexPLI. The US, however, has consistently expressed concerns that the proposed injury thresholds and IARV have not been validated as appropriate for the American car fleet. Therefore, the US proposes to have ‘recommended’ IARV included in the preamble to Amendment 2 while allowing governments the freedom to use whatever IARV/performance thresholds they deem appropriate until such criteria can be fully validated.

Presentation on child restraint fixtures (CRF) and their relationship with in-vehicle safety systems, arguing that children benefit from certain CRF configurations that position the occupant for optimal benefit of seat belts or for eventual interaction with a side/curtain airbag.
