Proposal to clarify the requirements of UN R100 specified under paragraph 5.1.1. This paragraph describes the general requirements for the protection of all high voltage parts, including the obligation that such protection against live parts cannot be opened without the use of tools. If connectors can be opened without use of tools or if they do not satisfy the IPXXD/IPXXB protection limits, the provisions of have to be met.

56th GRSP session (9-12 Dec 2014)

31. The expert from Germany introduced GRSP-56-17 and GRSP-56-18 aimed at clarifying the provisions for connectors of electric vehicles. GRSP adopted both proposals, as reproduced in Annex IV to the session report. The secretariat was requested to submit GRSP-56-17 and GRSP-56-18 to WP.29 and AC.1, for consideration and vote at their June 2015 sessions, respectively as: (i) draft Supplement 4 to the 01 series of amendments and as (ii) draft Supplement 2 to the 02 series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 100.

48. The expert from OICA introduced GRSP-55-12 and GRSP-55-13 to clarify provisions for connectors. The expert from Germany agreed with the technical contents of the proposal but suggested a clearer wording. GRSP agreed to resume consideration of this subject at its December 2014 session.
