This document summarises the reviews conducted by the GR working parties on the fitness for ADS of UN Regulations and GTR for application to ADS vehicles. This document represents the current opinions of the experts at the time of submission, and the recommendations contained inside may evolve significantly during the next steps of the process of reviewing and amending Regulations.

Proposal to clarify the application of UN R10 on electromagnetic compatibility requirements to ALKS.

This document contains a number of sections and provisions in square brackets. These provisions are considered to be addressed and possibly amended by the task force on ADAS over the Summer 2023 through the submission of additional informal documents for the seventeenth GRVA session in September.

Proposal to clarify the provisions for ACSF Cat. A “Remote Controlled Parking (RCP)” for vehicle combinations. The current definition for RCP S_RCPmax sets a maximum limit of 6m distance to the motor vehicle, which is insufficient in situations where the operation is supervised by the driver located behind the vehicle combination.

Updated proposal from the ADAS task force based on document GRVA/2023/20.

The European Union, the recently proposed EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) will introduce a set of horizontal requirements aimed at strengthening cyber resilience for products across a large number of sectors. While the CRA is a significant legislative initiative, its generic nature might not fully address the specific needs of the automotive industry, in particular for L-category vehicles. UN Regulation No. 155 is already available, proven for the automotive industry, and fully compatible with the EU CRA requirements, making it a more suitable and focused solution for these vehicles.

Proposal to ensure that vehicles with ‘basic’ B1+ACC are not required to approve to the DCAS regulation just because that functionality meets the definition of DCAS. However, if the vehicle is equipped with DCAS that includes such functionality, that functionality must be approved according to this regulation so that the DCAS has been assessed holistically.

Inclusion of vehicles of Categories L, R, S and T into the scope if fitted with at least one electronic control unit.

Proposal in response to GRVA-17-13 with regard to T, R, S category machinery.

Proposal for guidelines from the informal working group on Functional Requirements for Automated Vehicles (FRAV).

Proposal to clarify the need to apply, when relevant, the Type IIA test in Annex 15 for alternative brake lining purposes (e.g., in the case of vehicles with regenerative braking for Type IIA endurance test purposes to use the friction brake as an alternative to the regular endurance brake).

Proposal to expand the scope of the Regulation to include all Category L and O vehicles if fitted with an electronic control unit.

Proposal to delineate the scope of UN R79 vis-à-vis the draft new UN Regulation on Driver Control Assistance Systems (DCAS).

Proposal to add the option of using a QR code (or another type of digital data carrier) to replace, if necessary, some packaging information.
