Proposal to establish an informal expert group with a mandate for the exchange of information and experiences concerning regulations, policy measures, and standardization efforts related to the chemical compounds used in vehicle interiors and the health of vehicle occupants. If warranted, the group would develop recommendations/guidelines for inclusion as a new annex to the Consolidated Resolution on the Construction of Vehicles (RE3) and the 1998 Agreement’s Special Resolution No. 1 (SR1).

Pursuant to its defect investigations concerning the shattering of certain panoramic sunroofs, Korea proposes the establishment of an informal working group to prepare amendments to UN Regulation No. 43 and GTR No. 6 to specify test methods for evaluating panoramic sunroof glazing.

The main objective of this proposal is to develop an amendment to UN GTR No. 6 on Safety Glazing concerning clarification of the methods (e.g. 227g ball drop test), etc. for testing and evaluating the mechanical strength of toughened glass so that the safety of a panoramic sunroof is assured.

Brief update on automated vehicle policy in Korea and to highlight the importance of the WP.29’s role of coordinating with WP.1, ITU and other relevant agencies.

Proposal for an amendment to update global technical regulation (GTR) No. 9 in line with technical progress, notably to provide a test procedure for deployable systems of the outer surface of vehicles to ensure an adequate protection of pedestrians or other vulnerable road users during the accident.

Proposal to exempt Zone I from opaque obscuration requirements of GTR 6 under certain conditions to facilitate the installation of devices such as rain-drop sensors, inside mirrors or automated vehicle sensors, etc..

The objective of this proposal is to develop, in the framework of the 1998 Agreement, an amendment to UN Global Technical Regulation (GTR) No. 8 on Electronic Stability Control to amend to the testing provisions to accommodate the latest innovations for steering systems which have significantly low steering gear ratio (i.e. quick steering characteristics).

Request for authorization to develop an amendment to GTR No. 6 (and thus UN Regulation No. 43) to establish test procedures and performance requirements for panoramic sunroof glazing.

Proposal to develop a test procedure for the assessment of exterior (outer surface of the vehicle) deployable systems to protect pedestrians or other vulnerable road users during an accident.

Proposal for the Phase 2 development of GTR No. 13, including

1. Further consideration of items in the original authorization (document WP.29/AC.3/17);
2. Potential revision of the scope to address additional vehicle classes;
3. Requirements for material compatibility and hydrogen embrittlement;
4. Requirements for the fueling receptacle;
5. Evaluation of performance-based test for long-term stress rupture proposed in Phase 1 (including assessment of a procedure to evaluate the risk of long-term stress rupture of storage containers made from composite fiber reinforced polymers);
6. Consideration of research results reported after completion of Phase 1 – specifically research related to electrical safety, hydrogen storage systems, and post-crash safety;
7. Consideration of 200 per cent Nominal Working Pressure (NWP) or lower as the minimum burst requirement; and
8. Consider Safety guard system for the case of isolation resistance breakdown.

Proposal to establish a WP.29 program to develop a UN GTR specifying a methodology for determining the real driving emissions of light-duty vehicles based on the European RDE methodology appropriately adapted for specific regional traffic conditions and boundaries.

Request to develop an amendment to the GTR 8 testing provisions to accommodate the latest innovations for steering systems which have significantly low steering gear ratio (i.e. quick steering characteristics).
