A spotlight feature with a bright narrow beam pattern directed at hazardous VRUs, moving with the target and flashing to remind drivers while warning VRUs, received positive feedback from customer experience surveys

Frequent collisions between vehicle doors and approaching bicycles or motorcycles when a door is opened, causing injuries to riders and, in some cases, even fatalities. These collisions occur because drivers and passengers often fail to check for approaching vehicles before opening the door. The type of collisions are referred to as Dooring Accidents.

Door-opening collision accidents between motor vehicles and vulnerable road users occur frequently and pose serious risks to road traffic safety. No mandatory UN Regulation or Global Technical Regulation for Door Opening Warning Systems exists internationally, resulting in regional inconsistencies. A virtual kick-off workshop was held on 1 April with participation from contracting parties and stakeholders. The workshop reviewed accident data from Germany and China, discussed potential technical parameters for DOWS, and identified the need for broader international data collection. Further workshops are envisaged pending availability of substantive new input.

Proposal to introduce provisions on thermal propagation as a result of a single cell thermal runaway.

China proposal that GRVA develop its own terms of reference to frame its work, pursue its activities with a preference for GTRs under the 1998 Agreement (while not precluding simultaneous work under the 1958 Agreement), work collegially across all Contracting Parties regardless of adherence to particular Agreements, and to offer its services as vice-chair of GRVA.

Proposal to improve the wording of the “decelerating lead vehicle” test scenario for consistency with related provisions in the text.

This document presents activities in China on a testing methodology for traffic rule compliance by ADS-equipped vehicles. The document addresses safety risks from inconsistent adherence to traffic regulations and proposes that ADS shall comply with traffic rules applicable to the dynamic driving task in the country of operation, applying the same rules as human drivers. It describes 12 core driving tasks categorized into safety, operation, and interaction clusters, 398 evaluation criteria, and 4 traffic elements. The methodology integrates virtual simulation, closed-site testing, and real-road testing to verify ADS compliance with traffic rules comprehensively within the operational design domain and in critical scenarios.

Proposal to amend para. 5.3.3.2. to correct a referencing error by replacing the reference to para. 5.1.4. with a reference to para. 5.3.1.1., which directly relates to mechanical parts of the steering transmission, thereby removing possible uncertainty or the need to liaise with the designated technical service or approval authority to confirm interpretation of the current text.
