Request from the GRSG secretariat for clarification of a possible inconsistency in the text of UN R144. Paragraph 26.7.2. refers to situations where the AECS is not equipped with a back-up power supply; however, the subparagraph 26.7.2.3. refers to an AECS with a back-up power supply.
Proposal to clarify that the term “special joint” does not include flexible components supporting coupling articulation (as is pertinent to Class C50 couplings).
Presentation on new national legislation that defines a new vehicle category, “urban shuttle”. The legislation skirts the current M category definitions by defining an urban shuttle as having a total capacity to carry between nine and 16 passengers plus a driver with seating for 4-5 passengers. As such, France intends to propose national type approvals for such vehicles with a view to address driverless versions in future legislation.

Proposal to add the condition " and any part of the vehicle which is more than 2.0 m above the ground" to the definition of the “vehicle front right corner” to ensure that the BSIS detection zone is not adversely affected by specific elements added at later stages of completion of the vehicle (e.g., a crane).
Revised text with transitional provisions for the proposal (GRSG/2019/6) to specify that "the motor-vehicle’s user instructions (e.g. owner’s manual, vehicle handbook) shall clearly specify that the removable or repositionable mechanical coupling device shall always be removed or repositioned when it is not in use.” The purpose is to comply with an EU General Safety Regulation provision that prohibits couplings from obscuring rear lighting components or registration plates.
OICA comments on the original proposal (GRSG/2019/11) regarding interpretation of “contactable parts” and wiper systems. GRSG/2019/11 has been superseded by a revised proposal (GRSG/2019/34) incorporating the OICA comments.

UN R144: Consolidated proposal for a 01 series of amendments
Reference Number: GRSG-117-47
Full UN R144 integrating the proposal to:
clarify that the application of an AECD approval to other vehicle categories than M1 and N1 is not mandatory,
align the power supply requirement of Part III, para. 34.1 with the corresponding requirement in Part II, para. 25.1.
clarify with regard to para. 34.1 that if the vehicle is equipped with both
-a “back-power supply” as listed in para. 35.10.1 and
-a “Power supply other than back-up power supply mentioned in paragraph 35.10.1” as listed in para. 35.10.2
both should be tested according to Annex 9. The “Power supply other than back-up power supply mentioned in paragraph 35.10.1” should indeed only be tested if it is the only power supply for the AECS.
include two-year transitional provisions
remove the exclusion of M1 and N1 not equipped with a side airbag and to specify that the AECS shall be able to output the navigation solution in an NMEA-0183 protocol format (RMC, GGA, VTG, GSA and GSV message), among other clarifications.
UN R107: Proposal for amendments document GRSG/2019/30
Reference Number: GRSG-117-54
Revised proposal to allow an alternative positioning and spacing of escape hatches on buses of Classes A and B to address limitations for shorter vehicles.
Revisions to the proposal to update Part III of UN R93 to enable approval of truck cabs where the front underrun protection is integrated in the motor vehicle (in order to improve aerodynamic performance). The proposal includes transitional provisions from 1 November 2025.
Proposal for a new UN Regulation on awareness of vulnerable road users behind vehicles
Reference Number: GRSG/2019/16
Proposal for a new UN Regulation on the approval of devices for reversing motion and motor vehicles with regard to the driver’s awareness of vulnerable road users behind vehicles. The purpose of this Regulation is to provide the provisions for reversing motion concerning on awareness of vulnerable road users proximity. UN Regulation No. 46 provides provisions for indirect vision of motor vehicles. This Regulation expands driver’s vision or awareness for vehicle rear direction when in reversing motion. Therefore, some requirements of this Regulation may be satisfied by devices complying with UN Regulation No. 46.
UN R121: Proposal for Supplement 11 to the original series and Supplement 4 to the 01 series of amendments
Reference Number: GRSG/2019/17
Proposal in line with ISO 2575 to allow for the use of different colors (e.g., red, yellow, green) to convey the status modes (e.g., failure, active) of seven functions via modification of footnote 18 under Table 1.
Proposal to update Part III of UN R93 to enable approval of truck cabs where the front underrun protection is integrated in the motor vehicle (in order to improve aerodynamic performance). This proposal would define the forward reference point as being the same transverse location where the force is applied. This results in FUPs where (in the case of cab fronts that are curved) at least 400 mm must be maintained along the front contour of the cab, instead of the foremost point. The proposal includes transitional provisions from 1 September 2020.
Proposal for a draft new UN Regulation on Devices Against Unauthorized Use
Reference Number: GRSG/2019/20

Reference Number: GRSG/2019/30
For escape hatches on buses of Classes A and B, proposal to allow a maximum length of 1600 mm equally spaced to cover the shortest vehicles, so the allowed space should be the maximum of either the third of the length or 1600 mm.
