Proposal to establish uniform provisions for type approval of vehicles of categories M₁ and N₁ equipped with a Door Opening Warning System (DOWS) intended to reduce the risk of collisions involving opening vehicle doors and approaching vulnerable road users. The system shall provide information signals indicating the presence of a dooring-related vulnerable road user in the detection area and door opening warning signals to alert occupants when a door opening attempt is initiated and collision risk is imminent. The Regulation specifies technical requirements including system availability, signalling requirements, failure indication, and test procedures for verification at type approval.
