Proposal to amend geometrical criteria (dimensions and distances between lateral protection devices) and installation provisions for lateral protection barriers in order to improve their performance with regard to vulnerable road users. The proposal would

1. increase the maximum distance between lateral rails from 300 mm to 400 mm
2. redefine the limits for the lower edge from “550 mm above the ground” to definition via an isosceles triangle formed by lines drawn at 8° from the ground contact points of the vehicle tires intersecting at point “I” above the road surface where the maximum limit “I” is between 350-450 mm
3. define the upper edge as from 450 mm rather than 300 mm maximum from the vehicle structure or maximum height of the upper edge above the ground from 950 mm to 850 mm
4. update the horizontal static force requirement for lateral protection devices to 3 kN and the deflection under load criteria to 90 mm over the rearmost 250 mm of the device and 450 mm over the remainder of the device.

Proposal to clarify the test requirements in alignment with the French text of the regulation by amending paragraph 5.10 to read “Tanks shall be installed in such a way as to be protected from the consequences of a collision to the front or the rear of the vehicle; there shall be no protruding parts, sharp edges, etc. near nearby all around the tank tanks.” The proposal aims to clarify the inspection of potentially protruding parts around the tanks in order to ensure their integrity in the event of a collision.

Proposal to add provisions for the definition and requirements for lower tether strap and the definition and specifications of Lower Tether Anchorages (LTA).

Draft Terms of Reference and Rules of Procedure of the GRSG informal working group on the behaviour of M2 and M3 general construction in case of fire event (BMFE) pursuant to discussions held since the last GRSG session.

Proposal to add explicit references to indirect vision systems, blind spot systems, and accident emergency
call systems.

Proposal to clarify and align the French version of the text with regard to its English counterpart and the provisions on locking devices for each vehicle door.

The proposal addresses issues identified in Annex 8, improves reproducibility and robustness of the procedures, fills in gaps in the test cases, and provides additional details on measuring equipment and test execution.

Proposal to clarify requirements of the optical signal for a CSF intervention to ensure sufficient flashing tell-tale visibility for the driver, to specify the duration of such ACSF signals, to ensure a safe hierarchy of signals (e.g., ESF over CSF) by priority, to clarify that deactivation when departing an ODD means the “off mode”, and to add a cross-reference pointing to paragraphs that define cases of manual and automatic deactivation.

Proposal to introduce objective criteria for evaluating whether a door remains latched following the pole impact test. Under UN R135, rear doors on the impacted side of the vehicle not directly struck by the pole may nonetheless be subjected to heavy loads and therefore need to be assessed. This proposal corresponds to a similar clarification already introduced into UN R95 on side impacts.
