Japan submitted this proposal to clarify the
requirements of the Regulation on rear underrun protection devices. This proposal is based on informal document GRSG-101-10-Rev.1.

This proposal from Japan is a modified version of GRSG/2011/31, which was submitted for the purpose of preventing road accidents due to the inability of drivers of vehicles with an extremely high eye point to view small vehicles (e.g. motorcycles) in front.

Proposal to amend the transitional provisions to exempt Contracting Parties that apply UN R73 on or after the entry into force of the 02 series from the obligation to accept approvals granted in accordance with paragraph 11.11. of the Regulation.

Document GRSP/2011/10 would require seats which can be tipped or folded automatically to lock in all positions, which could suggest locking in positions throughout the unfolding procedure. This submission clarifies the assumed intent of requiring seats to lock in their final positions.

Proposal for amendments to UN R12, R94, and R95 to introduce provisions for excluding the REESS coupling system in cases where testing is performed under the condition that part(s) of the high voltage system are not energized.

Because the subject of protection from direct contact with live electrical parts in the regulations concerns the “occupants”, not the “power train” as currently specified, Japan proposes to exchange the terms in the appropriate paragraphs of the subject rules.

Draft progress report of the informal group working on the second phase of the GTR on head restraints for review by the Working Party on Passive Safety.

Document GRSP/2012/5 proposes amendments to UN R44 to prevent the unintentional disengagement of ISOFIX child restraint systems. This submission from Japan proposes additional provisions for CRS configurations where the main seat body can be disengaged from the ISOFIX chassis.

Proposed language to amend the draft new regulation on child restraint systems per the recommendations resulting from Japanese tests using acceleration-type sled procedures.

Japan proposes changes to the draft text (document GRSP/2013/22) intended to transpose GTR No. 13 on hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle safety into the UN Regulation type approval system.
