paragraph 15.2.4.9.2. (new) ambiguous if they are separated from the concept of an
obstruction rate of 10% or less as stipulated in the current regulations.

Republic of Korea proposed that indicators, their identifications, and the identifications of
controls do not need to be illuminated if the driver intentionally deactivates the illumination
and the electric vehicle is not in driving conditions. (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRSG/2024/4)

Proposal for the positioning of escape hatches for vehicles of classes I, II and III

Proposal for allowing vehicles of L categories fitted with handlebars to be equipped with a digital key, which has been already permitted for vehicles of categories M 1 and N 1.

This proposal aims to make extendible trailers conform to all lateral protection requirements for trailers regardless of length, in
order to remove the safety risk to vulnerable road users when the trailer is in the fully extended position. This is achieved by the removal of section 13.1.1. and 16.1.1 that specify some exemptions to requirements when the trailer is extended.

Spain on behalf of the BLEVE IWG under WP.15 introduced a first draft (GRSG-127-05-Rev.1) of new requirements and test methods for
automatic fire suppression systems in the engine compartment of specific vehicles (ADR)

Proposal by experts from VRU-Proxi. Clarification is given as the vehicle owner is not concerned with test preparation and it shall not be implemented in the owner’s manual. The manufacturer shall deliver the required information at the time of approval to run the test appropriately.

Activities to further improve safety of vehicles and provide the drivers with better information on the safety of vulnerable road users around their vehicle

The wording “vehicle master switch” can be misleading for some electric or ADR vehicles. OICA recommends alignment on the text recently harmonized among the GRVA regulations

To improve the effectiveness of LPDs in preventing left- or right-turn collisions, Japan intends to submit the following proposals:
1. Eliminating the exemption for semi-trailer tractors
2. Reducing the lower edge ground clearance of LPDs
3. Clarifying the upper edge structure of LPDs
4. Adding exemption to ensure BSIS requirements

OICA questions the necessity of the proposed amendments as these cannot be covered
under the existing regulations for vehicle type approval

In order to evaluate the conformity to « particular specifications » for devices operation under different test conditions, is there an intention to perform the test on a combined testing bench including different systems to evaluate if the final operationability
including interactions with other devices is ensured or only testing of separate components is sufficient to demonstrate conformity due to complexity of some electronic architectures

odometers to include provisions on: (a) accuracy of the on-board odometer mileage values, (b) anti-tampering of the on-board odometer mileage values and (c) accuracy and antitampering of the odometer mileage values displayed to the driver.
