Document GRSP/2011/10 would require seats which can be tipped or folded automatically to lock in all positions, which could suggest locking in positions throughout the unfolding procedure. This submission clarifies the assumed intent of requiring seats to lock in their final positions.

Proposal for amendments to UN R12, R94, and R95 to introduce provisions for excluding the REESS coupling system in cases where testing is performed under the condition that part(s) of the high voltage system are not energized.

Because the subject of protection from direct contact with live electrical parts in the regulations concerns the “occupants”, not the “power train” as currently specified, Japan proposes to exchange the terms in the appropriate paragraphs of the subject rules.

The current CRS label describes the dangers of using a child restraint system with an active front seat passenger airbag and was designed to correspond with the in-vehicle label of UN R94. Since the latter has been changed into a style without text, this proposal similarly revises the CRS version.

Presently, rearward-facing child restraint systems cannot be type approved under the ISOFIX Universal category of UN R16. Spain sees no technical reasons to forbid type approval of rearward facing ISOFIX as universal CRS and so proposes to add such enabling provisions to the regulation.
