Working draft (from the 20 Dec 2011 meeting of the EC Working Group on Motorcycles (MCWG)) of the EU regulation on vehicle functional safety requirements (RVSFR) for the approval of two- or three-wheel vehicles and quadricycles under discussion between the European Commission and interested parties.

During the 50th session of GRSP, the chairperson had requested participants to prepare a list with abbreviations used in the UN regulations under GRSP. EC had volunteered to carry out this task and it was agreed that the list would be
submitted to GRSP as an informal document.

GRSP/2012/11 proposes to correct text for electric vehicles in UN Regulation Nos. 12, 94, 95 and 100, replacing the word “power train” with “occupants” in the referenced rules. This document replaces ‘registration’ with ‘approval’ in transition provisions in accordance with WP.29 guidelines.

GRSP/2012/10 is the proposal to incorporate such rechargeable energy storage systems (REESS) into the UN Regulation on battery electric vehicle safety. This document from the REESS informal group proposes further editorial clarifications and corrections.

GRSP/2012/12 is the proposed text of the new UN GTR on safety of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. This proposal from OICA would retain the “barriers alternative” for post-crash electrical safety (in effect removing brackets that signify tentative language from the relevant text).

The requirements for the airbag warning label were recently amended by Supplement 4 to the 01 series of amendments and by Supplement 1 to the 02 series of amendments to Regulation 94. It therefore appears necessary to align the corresponding prescriptions of Regulation 16.
