The extension of UN R90 to include brake drums and discs introduced the concept of a part “identical” to the OE part. Because such parts would have been approved under UN R13/13-H, they were exempted from redundant approval under R90. This proposal would similarly define and exempt brake linings.

Russian submission reviewing the supplements to UN R13-H, their transtional provisions and lead times before entry into force.

OICA proposes alternate language for amendments to the text of Annex 21 governing the use of simulation tools for evaluating electronic vehicle stability control systems (EVSC).

This document addresses the ramifications of introducing the proposals outlined in GRRF-72-07 (superceded by GRRF-72-07/Rev.1) specifically associated with semi-trailers.

Denmark submitted GRRF-71-19 (subsequently in GRRF/2012/12) proposing a new paragraph to require a test point between the coupling head and the trailer relay emergency valve. This document argues that the requirement is already implicit within UN R13 and therefore, that the change is unnecessary.

Denmark submitted document GRRF-71-19 (subsequently integrated into GRRF/2012/12) proposing to narrow the compatibility bands for control line pressure versus brake rate. This document challenges the proposed changes as effectively mandating electronic braking and imposing unwarranted costs.

The use of test reports in Regulation No.13 was first introduced in Annex 11 of UN R13 in 1984. CLEPA proposes this amendment to support the proposal to permit the use of an Annex 19 test report as an alternative method in meeting the vehicle stability function requirements as detailed in Annex 21.

Proposals from the Indian delegation to improve the working draft of the GTR (document TYREGTR-12-01) pursuant to the 16 September 2011 session of the Tyre GTR informal group, including certain IEC and FMVSS references.

UN R90 unintentionally omits the bedding procedure for the brake drum high load test for M2, M3, N2 and N3 vehicles. CLEPA proposes using the same bedding procedure as already adopted for the thermal fatigue test for such vehicles and for the high load tests for trailers.

This proposal aims to improve brake distribution between truck and trailer of heavy vehicle combinations at everyday low decelerations, to enhance uniform use of all wheel brakes and thereby to counteract loss of full brake performance. The proposal is based on ISO 20918 and supercedes GRRF-72-07.

ETRTO proposals to align the definitions in UN R30, R54 and R117 (documents GRRF/2011/13 and 14) raised comments from France (document GRRF-71-31). This document offers a basic “snow tyre” definition/markings plus a more precise definition/markings for tyres used in severe snow conditions.

Japan plans to issue a regulation on 1 April 2012 along with fiscal incentives to promote the use of advanced emergency braking systems on heavy-duty vehicles. Mandatory installation will be phased in starting from 1 November 2014.

The proposed amendments harmonize the definitions and marking requirements of this
Regulation with the new 02 series of amendments to Regulation No. 117 and the latest
proposal for amendment to Regulation N° 117 related to the snow tyre definitions as
proposed by the informal group “snow tyre”.

A proposal to align the French version of UN R54 with the English and Russian texts.

The proposal harmonizes the definitions and marking requirements of UN R30 with the new 02 series of amendments to UN R117 and the latest proposal for amendment to UN R117 related to the snow tyre definitions as proposed by the informal group “snow tyre”. This document supercedes GRRF/2011/13.
