India is a Contracting Party to the 1998 Agreement.
Although not a signatory to the 1958 Agreement, India does use the type approval system for the certification of motor vehicles and automotive components. The 2007 presentation “Rulemaking in India” provides a good overview of India’s automotive regulatory system. More recently, India provided an “Overview of Automotive Regulations” in 2011.
