The Task Force on regulatory Fitness for Automated Driving Systems reports proposed amendments to UN R13, R13-H, and R79. Amendments to R13 and R13-H, submitted as GRVA/2025/24 and GRVA/2025/25, include general clarifications, relaxed manual control requirements for vehicles of categories X and Y, clarification of braking system warning transmission to the ADS, and ESC compatibility provisions. R79 amendments, submitted as GRVA/2025/23, establish baseline manual control requirements for X and Y vehicles, remote control capabilities, ADS steering equipment requirements, and remove ALKS exemptions. Transitional provisions apply. The task force coordinates with other expert groups on horizontal topics and continues amending additional UN Regulations.

This document proposes amendments to UN Regulation 13 for trailers with dynamo function, superseding GRVA-22-26, GRVA-2025-15, and GRVA-21-12. The dynamo function converts vehicle kinetic energy into electrical energy without affecting braking system forces and is limited to trailers of category O₂, O₃, and O₄ pending further development. Maximum retardation power limits are 22 kW for O₃/O₄ trailers and 2 kW for O₂ trailers, measured using specified methods. Requirements include wheel locking prevention with braking rate not exceeding 0.04 per wheel, functional safety assessment per Annex 18, and demonstration that anti-lock and stability control systems comply when dynamo function is enabled. The dynamo function shall not be used during brake application testing. Administrative amendments update Annexes 2, 4, 5, 10, 19, 20, and 21 to reference e-axles and dynamo functions.

Proposal to modify UN R171 through the 02 series of amendments, based on WP.29/2025/7, WP.29-195-05, and WP.29/2025/144, introducing modifications addressing system-initiated manoeuvres in non-highway environments and during phases of withholding hands-on requests, enhanced driver disengagement monitoring and warning strategies, controllability requirements for complex operational scenarios, speed limit assistance features, safe headway assistance, system validation through multiple assessment pillars including physical tests and in-service monitoring, and comprehensive safety management system requirements for manufacturers.
