Excerpts from session reports
GRVA | Session 22 | 2-6 Jun 2025

66. During the consultations, the expert from OICA proposed to clarify (GRVA-22-06) the provisions for Electric Parking Brakes (EPB) to ensure consistent interpretation of the activation conditions for an Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), meaning that the ESS can be generated by application of the service braking system via the EPB control. He also proposed to clarify that the use of any braking system control for testing the effectiveness of the secondary braking system in failure conditions is allowed (GRVA-22-10).

67. GRVA postponed the review of ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRVA/2025/34 until September 2025.

68. GRVA agreed to remove ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRVA/2025/13 and ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRVA/2025/14 of the agenda for the next session.

69. During the consultations, the experts reviewed the proposal tabled by the expert from CLEPA to amend UN Regulation No. 13 (GRVA-22-25 as well as GRVA-22-26 amending ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRVA/2025/15) in order to allow for the approval of e-axles. They noted the urgency for some parties to adopt these amendments as well as the need to address final open issues regarding testing and validation.

70. GRVA noted the status report on activities regarding the development of e-axle provisions (GRVA-22-25).

71. GRVA agreed to keep ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRVA/2025/15 and GRVA-22-26 on the agenda for the September session and also agreed to resume discussion on the basis of an updated version.

72. GRVA requested the secretariat to distribute GRVA-22-06 and GRVA-22-10 with official symbols at the next session.

GRVA | Session 24 | 19-23 Jan

76. GRVA recalled the purpose of ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRVA/2025/15 introducing provisions for the approval of e-axles. The representative of CLEPA, also on behalf of CLCCR and OICA, presented (GRVA-24-39) the ongoing discussions held at meetings of the e-trailer industry group, working in two phases. He recalled that Phase I was completed (dynamo function) and was tabled for adoption by WP.29 in March 2026. He detailed the activities on Phase II on e-trailers that recuperates and supports propulsion or other trailer systems. He detailed the timeline, which is interdependent with the timeline of the January 2027 edition of ISO 11992 (as the 2023 edition was deemed unsafe to implement). He recalled the provisions in UN Regulation No. 100 (Electric power trained vehicles) already adopted and in force since October 2025. He listed some technical aspects under discussion and announced two workshops scheduled in spring 2026. The representative of Sweden recommended to keep this workstream aligned with the trailer definition in the Consolidated Resolution R.E.3.
