Proposal to resolve issues with the application of provisions to vehicle configurations for which BSIS may not work correctly (e.g. because of the vehicle body, the vehicle use) to allow more flexibility for system design and facilitate introducing automated brake functions.

Proposal to introduce appropriate trajectories for each type of M3 vehicle. Envelope 4 represents a specific trajectory for a Class I non-articulated (rigid) M3 vehicle. Envelope 5 represents trajectories for Class II, Class III and articulated M3 vehicles of all classes. The proposal also adds ‘Classification of power-driven vehicles and trailers’ in line with the Consolidated Resolution on the Construction of Vehicles (R.E.3.).

There are some vehicle configurations for which MOIS may not work correctly (e.g.: because of the vehicle body, the vehicle use). This proposal would exempt these vehicles from the MOIS requirements as long as they are not ready to drive off or during operation of incompatible auxiliary equipment if it is agreed by the Type Approval Authority.

Proposal to replace “audible/acoustic system” with “detection system” to clarify that the type of signal mentioned in para. 1 of Annex 10 is not limited to acoustic signals and to replace “warning signal” with “information signal” to align paras. 1.3.2. and 1.4.2. of Annex 10 with the requirements of chapter 17 (detection systems).

All major amendments address the test tolerances of the subject vehicle and the test target only. They do not affect the Moving Off Information System safety requirements, however increased the system robustness and ensure the feasibility of physical test conditions and vehicle characteristics.

Proposal for a new UN Regulation for the type approval of automatic emergency braking systems designed to protect vulnerable road users from collisions with heavy vehicles travelling at low speeds. The purpose is to enable a cross-reference in the new UN Regulation on commercial vehicle direct vision to allow for alternative solutions and performance criteria for vehicles equipped with this “urban emergency braking system” capability.

Proposal aims to prevent the installation of the filling unit under the body of M1 vehicles.

Proposals aims to align the requirements of IP protection grades to the latest IEC standard and to recognise ISO 20653 as a valid alternative, which is more appropriate and focused on automotive applications.

Proposal defines the working pressure for an LNG tank to be the primary relief valve setting (paragraph 4.4.), without stating a minimum value of the said relief valve. If a vehicle has an on-board tank with a primary relief valve that opens at a lower pressure than that at which the filling station is set to stop, the primary relief valve will open during refueling and this is an obvious safety risk.

Proposes the addition of design qualification tests also will harmonize with ISO 15500-13:2012, and the North American CSA/ANSI PRD 1 (2020).
