Text originally prepared by Belgium to propose amendments to Regulation No. 107 to align the additional safety prescriptions for trolleybuses (Annex 12) with the corresponding electrical standards (see document GRSG/2013/16). During discussion in the October 2013 session of GRSG, some Contracting Parties felt that the prescriptions for electromagnetic compatibility of trolleybuses belong in Regulation No. 10. So these prescriptions are taken out of the amended proposal (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRSG/2014/19) and are proposed here for consideration by GRE for further action.

Proposal to introduce flashing side marker lamps for vehicles of categories N₂, N₃, O₃ and O₄. The objective of this provision is to improve the safety of vulnerable road users by better informing them about the intention of a heavy goods vehicle to make a turn. Germany believes this to be a simple measure that will improve the safety level especially for cyclists and pedestrians located in the blind spot area of a heavy goods vehicle.

Proposal to align the text of UN R105 with that adopted by the Working Party on the Transport of Dangerous Goods (WP.15) on the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR), edition 2015.

Presentation on the results of driver evaluations of conventional exterior rear-view mirrors compared with camera-monitor systems.

Proposals concerning the location of rear-view camera-monitor devices as replacements for conventional exterior rear-view mirrors.

At night, conventional mirrors reflect headlamps and similar light sources as points of light. This presentation reviews evaluations of camera-monitor systems in rendering point light sources compared against conventional exterior rear-view mirrors and methods for laboratory testing of their performance.

Test to determine whether a plastic safety glazing material meets minimum resistance thresholds from the action of a wiper, including dirt, at ambient temperatures.

Proposal to clarify and update transitional provisions, including provisions for extensions of type approvals granted according to the antecedent requirements of the original approval. These amendments also relate to the transfer of brake-related telltale provisions to UN R121. The proposal was adopted by the Working Party on Brakes and Running Gear (GRRF) at its 76th session, based on document GRRF/2014/16 as reproduced in Annex III to the session report.

Proposal to update the transitional provisions of UN R13, including provisions for extensions of type approvals granted according to the antecedent requirements of the original approval. These amendments also relate to the transfer of brake-related telltale provisions to UN R121. The proposal also would clarify and align UN R13 with UN R107 on bus construction with regard to the exemption of articulated buses and coaches from the requirements for vehicle stability equipment. These proposals are based on documents GRRF/2014/7 and GRRF-76-20 as amended and reproduced in Annex II of the report of the GRRF on its 76th session.

Text prepared by the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers OICA in coordination with the Informal Working Group Camera Monitor Systems (CMS II) to clarify the treatment of camera-monitor systems and similar indirect vision devices under Regulation No. 125. Presently, UN R125 exempts rear view mirrors from the requirements concerning obstructions to the driver’s forward field of vision. This proposal would clarify that rear vision camera-monitor systems benefit from the same exemptions.
