Corrigendum from the Secretariat to remove a reference to categories 3 and 4 from the English version to UN R6-Revision 5. Categories 4 and 5 were previously removed from UN R6, but this reference was inadvertantly overlooked.

This proposal mainly corrects an unintended, but potentially costly, obligatory (rather than optional) use of mingled letters in the marking provisions of UN R23. The proposal also corrects the marking provisions of UN R4 and R23 by deleting an unnecessary hyphen.

GRE created a Task Force on Conspicuity Marking to reconcile proposals concerning commercial vehicles contained in documents GRE/2011/53 and GRE/2011/62. The chair of the group offers this text as a compromise for GRE review.

The International Whole Vehicle Type Approval system under development within WP.29 would encompass a host of individual subsystem UN Regulations. This document reviews the current thinking on the UN Regulations implicated in IWVTA and their application within this context for review by GRE.

WP.29 Session 155 adopted Supplement 3 to the 03 series of amendments to UN R19, which automatically also applies to the 04 series. However, the photometric table of para. 6.4.3 approved in the 03 series differs from that of the 04 series. Therefore, GTB proposes a correction to the 04 series.

The GTB believes the Data Exchange for Type Approvals (DETA) system will enhance and simplify the current lighting approval markings. The GTB, however, recommends resolving questions concerning DETA administration, financing and try-out before further steps towards implementation.

Proposal to update UN R27 in accordance with technological progress by establishing provisions for the use of fluorescent retro-reflective strip, enabling the consolidation of currently separate fluorescent (daytime) and retro-reflective (nighttime) striping.

Proposal that would delete references to ‘retro-reflecting devices’ purusant to a decision of the Working Party on Lighting and clarify that testing of capabilities to detect and react to retro-reflecting devices is not required.

Submitted by Germany to correct a mistake in the original document from the GTB that proposes to introduce amendments to improve the accuracy of the test procedures to verify the stability of the photometric performance.

IEC has serious concerns with the proposal to clarify the conditions under which voltage control gear may be used in conjunction with filament light sources because halogen filament light sources should not be operated permanently outside the specifications, at a too low or at too high voltage.

During the preparation of the proposal in GRE/2012/7 to update the definition of “type”, the corresponding amendment to Regulation No. 31 was unintentionally omitted. This addendum completes the collective amendment.

Proposal to clarify the deletion of distributed lighting systems (DLS), or rather light generators, from the Regulations No. 19, 48 and 98, because the provisions for the DLS systems are incomplete. This deletion was never fully completed and in the meantime these systems have become obsolete.

Regulation No. 48 will soon be made mandatory in the EU. This proposal aims mainly at launching a discussion on consistency and management of the transitional provisions of Regulation No. 48.

Proposal from the Secretariat to add a definition for the term “manufacturer” to the Consolidated Resolution on the Construction of Vehicles (RE3) and to the Special Resolution No. 1 (SR1). RE3 and SR1 respectively define the terms used in UN Regulations and Global Technical Regulations.

The HRD was conceived as a repository for lighting requirements shared across multiple rules. However, active support has been insufficient to move forward. This submission proposes to suspend the effort pending an EC-sponsored WP.29 effort to improve the Forum’s rule development processes.
