Proposal to specify that headlamps producing only a driving beam are subject to testing of the resistance to mechanical deterioration of the plastic lens surface. The current text only specifies procedures for the passing beam.

Proposal to clarify that in the case of a stop lamp, the failure indicator of paragraph 6.1.7.2. is a “failure tell-tale” rather than an “operating tell-tale”. This proposal complements the similar proposal for Regulation No. 48 contained in informal document GRE-70-09.

Given the mandatory requirement for a daylight running lamp tell-tale, this proposal replaces the word “operating” with the word “failure” in describing the failure tell-tale of paragraph 7.4.2.(b).
