OICA comments on the NGV proposal (document GRSG/2019/28) to introduce changes/additions in the Change of Design Table to better specify appropriate test requirements for CNG cylinders with composite materials and, in some cases, to harmonize with International Standard Organisation (ISO) standard 11439.

Proposal to clarify that UN R144 does not specify the frequency (number) of attempts or the duration of efforts to establish a network connection (voice or data transmission) for automatic emergency call systems.

Proposal to update the definition of “key” in line with technological progress and clarifying that a “key” is specifically a means for access, not an anti-theft system.

Proposal to add new definitions, modify the description for Category L vehicles to align with addition of 4-wheel quadricycles, and update references to external standards.

Request from the originator of the proposal (regarding the measurement of distances of the left-most foot control from the cabin “wall”) to remove it from the session agenda.

Proposal to modify the scope and transitional provisions of the proposal concerning aerodynamic cabs.

Proposal for a mutual resolution [No. 4] concerning recommendations on ceramic printed area widths for panoramic sunroof designs.

Proposal to correct a typo: “Class II to IV VI exterior device”

Proposal to align requirements for conventional mirrors and camera-monitor systems. In the latest revision (where mirror and CMS provisions were split into separate sections), the phrase “including those parts remaining attached to the
support after the test provided for in paragraph 6.3.2. below” was omitted from the CMS section.

Proposal to modify the draft Amendment 2 to GTR 6 regarding obscuration area definitions.

Changes to the proposal to exempt rear edges of fenders and rear edges of A pillars under certain conditions.

Proposal to add a missing footnote and to clarify the application of Annex 4 for heat pumps.

Full UN R144 integrating the proposal to:

1. clarify that the application of an AECD approval to other vehicle categories than M₁ and N₁ is not mandatory,
2. align the power supply requirement of Part III, para. 34.1 with the corresponding requirement in Part II, para. 25.1.
3. clarify with regard to para. 34.1 that if the vehicle is equipped with both
   • -a “back-power supply” as listed in para. 35.10.1 and
   • -a “Power supply other than back-up power supply mentioned in paragraph 35.10.1” as listed in para. 35.10.2
   both should be tested according to Annex 9. The “Power supply other than back-up power supply mentioned in paragraph 35.10.1” should indeed only be tested if it is the only power supply for the AECS.
4. include two-year transitional provisions
5. remove the exclusion of M₁ and N₁ not equipped with a side airbag and to specify that the AECS shall be able to output the navigation solution in an NMEA-0183 protocol format (RMC, GGA, VTG, GSA and GSV message), among other clarifications.

Updated proposal to exempt Zone I from opaque obscuration requirements of GTR 6 under certain conditions.

Revised proposal to allow an alternative positioning and spacing of escape hatches on buses of Classes A and B to address limitations for shorter vehicles.

Revisions to the proposal to update Part III of UN R93 to enable approval of truck cabs where the front underrun protection is integrated in the motor vehicle (in order to improve aerodynamic performance). The proposal includes transitional provisions from 1 November 2025.
