Revised text originally submitted to WP.29 for its November 2013 session, but returned by the Forum due to concerns over the Conformity of Production (CoP) provisions. This revised version deletes the CoP provisions and is submitted pending also a review by GRE at its October 2014 session. This supplement completes the deletion of distributed lighting systems (DLS), or rather light generators, from the regulation.

Proposal to (i) harmonize the provisions of UN R49 for On-board Diagnostics (OBD) Threshold Limits (OTLs) with those of the EU, (ii) delete the urea consumption motoring obligation and improve definitions, (iii) modify the operating sequence definition for stop-start and hybrid vehicles and (iv) introduce an alternative service mode for LNG dual-fuel vehicles.

Proposal to clarify that head restraints approved under UN R17 are exempt from the requirements of UN R25 and that UN R25 does not apply to coach and bus seats approved under UN R80.

Proposal to require the installation of occupant-activated acoustic warning systems in vehicles equipped with full-locking systems in order to prevent harm in the event of an occupant being locked inside such a vehicle.

Proposed text transposing GTR No. 14 on pole side impact protection into a UN Regulation under the 1958 Agreement. (A separate proposal for the 01 series of amendments (document WP.29/2014/80) has also been submitted to enable Contracting Parties applying this Regulation to require a vehicle-to-pole impact speed of 32 ±1 km/h regardless of the “vehicle width”.)
