Proposal from the GRSG task force on Automated Vehicles Regulation Screening to exempt ADS vehicles of subcategories X and Y from requirements related to the presence of a human driver and manual driving controls. The proposal permits X and Y vehicles to use alternative materials for windscreens given their 6 kph speed restriction. The proposal further permits translucence levels below 70% for ADS vehicles while an ADS feature is active (i.e., performing the DDT).

Proposal from the GRSG task force on Automated Vehicles Regulation Screening to address ADS vehicles, including exemption of vehicles of subcategories X and Y from the requirements of UN R46. For other ADS vehicles, no special provisions or exemptions apply under UN R46.
