|
Document Reference Number: WP.29/2017/22
|
Description: Proposal to - insert provisions for the use of incandescent light sources in the case of light source modules and lamps with non-replaceable light sources,
- update the Conformity of Production (CoP) requirements,
- reference the compliance requirements for installation contained in Regulations Nos. 48, 53, 72 and 86,
- clarify the definition of “type”, with regard to manufacturer, trade names and marks,
- introduce editorial improvements to the requirements for markings,
- align the text in the header row of the table in paragraph 6.1 (light emitted by the lamps) with the definitions used in Regulation No. 48 for the installation of “single lamps”, “lamps marked D” and “interdependent lamps,
- align the text of paragraph 6.1.6. with the definition of “single lamp” introduced by GRE/2014/6 (Supplement 14 to the 04 Series of amendments, Supplement 7 to the 05 Series of amendments and Supplement 5 to the 06 Series of amendments of Regulation No. 48),
- correct the reference to paragraph 4.2.2.6. in the header of the table in paragraph 6.1.,
- correct the title of the Regulation by removing the exception of motorcycles pursuant to Supplement 11 to the 02 series of amendments,
- remove the requirement to indicate the rated wattage in the marking of lamps equipped with electronic light source control gear and/or non-replaceable light sources and/or light source module(s), and
- harmonize requirements on light source failure in lamps equipped with multiple light sources across UN Regulations, including UN R7.
This proposal consolidates UN R7 prior to its being “frozen” and superseded by the three new comprehensive lighting regulations (forward lighting, light-signalling, and retro-reflective devices) developed under the Simplification of Lighting Regulations program.
