This proposal allows for Separate Technical Units (STU) or Components
approvals: The Industry may need a regulatory tool to approve STU or
Components and vehicles equipped with STU or Components because the
same technology can sometimes be fitted to various families or categories of
vehicles or is largely independent of a vehicle. Such mechanism will help
streamlining the approvals of vehicles and hence the introduction of safety
technologies on the market.

Proposal for amendment to the UN Regulation on the uniform technical prescriptions for the approval of vehicles used for the international carriage of dangerous goods by road with regards to its engine fire suppression system.

Proposal for consolidating similar subfunction controls (e.g., climate
control) into a unified system enables easier selection and contributes to
reducing distraction while driving.

Draft proposal for an informal document to amend UN R169 to facilitate approvals of 8-12 ton vehicles derived from M₁/N₁ vehicles via compliance with provisions of UN R160.

Proposal to amend to meet the visibility requirements of UN R125, there is a notch in the lower edge of the black band of the front window in some vehicles. This is required to satisfy the requirements of UN-R125, but is considered to be meaningless for driving vision and needs to be corrected.

Proposal for clarification on the definition of “adjusted ocular reference point”

Proposal to resolve such an inconsistency with UN R125 to harmonize the location of the lower datum point (at 5°) of the angle of obstruction requirement in
paragraph 5.1.3. (at 4°).

Proposal for withdrawal based on to highlight the broader implications for vehicle design and usability for consumers resulting from this proposal. The lowering of the sideguard and reduction in ramp angle will give reduced flexibility for vehicles and trailer combinations in certain applications (i.e. loading roll-
on, roll-off vessels) and conflict with the road surface and local infrastructure (i.e. grounding out), which will lead to damage or reduced life of sideguards.
