| Language used for the application for approval and accompanying documentation |
| Reference Number: SGR0-10-06 |
|
Response from the UN Office of Legal Affairs transmitted through the WP.29 secretariat concerning the use of different languages in type-approval documents (clarification of Paragraph 3.3 in the proposed UN Regulation No. 0 on whole vehicle type approval). As currently envisioned, the exchange of type-approval information would be made through a secured database (Data Exchange for Type Approval (DETA)) in English. The question was whether this requirement would violate any UN perquisites. The OLA responds that the exclusive use of a given language is up to the parties to the agreement and therefore, the use of English does not present any legal concerns. |

| Proposal to document the status of UN Regulations for Contracting Parties accepting an International Whole Vehicle Type Approval of limited recognition |
| Reference Number: SGR0-10-03 |
|
The International Whole Vehicle Type Approval system under development would allow for a limited recognition approval to earlier versions of UN Regulations. Since this limited IWVTA requires Contracting Parties to declare to which version of each regulation they adhere, this proposal would amend the “Status of the 1958 Agreement” (document WP.29/343) to include this information as part of the regular process of reporting on the status of UN Regulations. |

| Tell-tale requirements in Regulations Nos. 48 and 121 and proposal of a task force |
| Reference Number: GRE-71-11 |
|
Discussion document on tell-tale requirements in Regulation No. 48 versus Regulation No. 121 and consideration of establishing a task force to further discuss the issues involved. Pursuant to discussions at the previous two GRE sessions concerning the use of the term “failure tell-tale” in relation to daytime running lamps and adaptive front lighting systems (AFS) in UN R48 and the potential impact on UN R121 concerning the “location and identification of hand controls, tell-tales and indicators”, the Netherlands proposes the formation of a special task force to study the issues and propose draft amendments for lighting regulations as warranted. |
