Germany has provided this proposal to revise their earlier submission (document GRPE/2012/2) pursuant to discussions held with the experts from the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and the European Commission.

Proposed revisions to IEC 60809 and 60810 in accordance with UN Regulations for signalling devices to address risks in the use of low-quality non-replaceable filament lamps.

This proposal mainly corrects an unintended, but potentially costly, obligatory (rather than optional) use of mingled letters in the marking provisions of UN R23. The proposal also corrects the marking provisions of UN R4 and R23 by deleting an unnecessary hyphen.
