Proposal to amend the proposals concerning manufacturer logos.

Priority tasks include

• Simplifying UN R148, R149, and R150 and amending UN R48, R53, R74, and R86 by 2027,
• Developing EMC requirements for UN R10 by 2026,
• Creating LED retrofit categories for UN R37, R99, and R128 by 2028, and
• Reducing lamp glare by 2026.

Proposal to correct and clarify the existing provisions. The proposal aims to allow Category HT and X special warning lamps emitting light in different colours in the same manner as Category T.

Proposal aims to introduce reversing projections. This proposal intends to introduce the possibility of light-signalling, in form of projection of patterns on the road, for other road users through new light-signalling function
“Reversing projection”.
Proposal also applies for a Supplement to the 06, 07, 08 and 09 series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 48

Proposal aims to introduce Direction Indicator Projections. This proposal intends to introduce the possibility of light-signalling, in form of projection of patterns on the road, for other road users through new light-signalling function “Direction indicator projection”.

Proposal to define and set requirements for “work lamps”.

Proposal to define “work lamps” and establish minimum specifications for safe use.

Proposal to clarify that only light-signalling devices may incorporate an illuminated logo.

Proposal to:

• Correct language for consistent use of “shall”
• Add year of publication extensions to ISO 7637-2 references
• Clarify the two types of electrical/electronic sub-assemblies (ESA) and related testing provisions
• Add references to the edition for EMC standards
• Update Model A and B approval markings
• Add missing failure criteria for “Advanced Driving System” (ADS) “Brake mode” vehicle test conditions
• Correct a reference to IEC 61000-4-5
• Improve consistency, align with relevant standards, and clarify provisions.

Proposal to delete the 2m width requirement for parking lamps.

Proposal to permit the installation of an optional rear-mounted manoeuvring lamp.

Proposal to allow the installation of side-marker lamps combined with retro-reflectors on the lateral foremost position on semi-trailers.

Proposal to clarify the duration of the optical indication of the answer-back signal.

Proposal to correct the numbering within paragraph 4.11. and to clarify the CoP provisions in Annex 8.

Proposal to clarify the voltage requirements for light-emitting diodes (LED).

Proposal to correct an editorial error regarding the markings for light source control gear.

Proposal to clarify the calculation method (i.e., rounding down to three digits) for the acceptance criteria in cases where tolerance limits are calculated.

Proposal to clarify the marking requirements for headlamp functions.

Proposal to improve the accuracy of the instrumental aiming method.

Proposal to introduce introduce new light emitting diode (LED) light source categories LRR8A and LRR8B and to amend provisions in paragraph 3.1, group 1, group 2, and group 3 concerning phase out of certain light source categories.

Proposal to introduce recommendations for the installation of special amber warning lamps on agricultural vehicles, agricultural tractors, and agricultural non-road mobile machinery.

Proposal to introduce new light emitting diode (LED) replacement light source categories H8, H16 and HB4.

Proposal to prohibit the inclusion of a manufacturer logo in headlamps under UN R149 and to limit the approval of light-signalling devices with a logo to the 01 series of amendment of UN R149 under UN R48.

Proposal to clarify the requirements for the activation of direction-indicator lamps to ensure compatibility with driver control assistance systems as permitted under UN Regulation No. 171.

Proposal to a new paragraph 4.20. in UN R149 to clarify that road illumination devices shall not incorporate a manufacturer logo and to specify under Annex 5 of UN R150 (requirements for the shape of the illuminating surface of retro-reflective devices) that for classes IA, IB and IVA, these requirements do not permit the shape to represent a manufacturer logo.

Proposal to amend the Regulation to enable application to ADS vehicles.

Proposal to amend UN R48 to enable its application to ADS vehicles, including to introduce vehicles with a “driving system which controls its operation or may be operated by driver support features or automated driving features or by an Automated Driving System (ADS).”

Proposal from the EMC task force to clarify ESA testing frequency ranges, to update the text in line with technological progress (including changes to ISO standards), provide dimensions and tolerances related to antenna placements specified in Annex 6, Figure 4, and otherwise to effect editorial improvements.
