The Working Party on Passive Safety held its seventy-seventh session from 5 to 9 May 2025 in Geneva. GRSP discussed amendments to multiple UN Regulations and Global Technical Regulations covering safety-belts, child restraint systems, pedestrian safety, hydrogen and fuel cell vehicles, and protective helmets. GRSP adopted proposals for amendments to UN R 16, UN R 100, UN R 127, UN R 129, UN R 134, UN R 173, UN R 174, and Mutual Resolution No. 1, which were submitted to WP.29 for November 2025 consideration. The working party also addressed electrically activated door opening, automated vehicles, and child protection topics, scheduling its next session for December 2025. |

The regulation applies to heavy-duty vehicles (categories M2, M3, N2, N3) and specifies requirements for liquefied hydrogen storage systems, pressure relief and shut-off devices, and vehicle fuel systems. Testing procedures include proof pressure verification, boil-off control, vacuum loss tolerance, and bonfire tests. Vehicle systems must prevent hydrogen accumulation in passenger compartments, limit exhaust hydrogen concentration, and include warning systems. Approval marks and periodic technical inspections are required. |
