Proposal for further discussion concerning technical advances in the use of CNG accumulators as an intermediate technology for promoting high, stable pressure in CNG engine injection systems. The CNG accumulator is used to stabilize the gas pressure and to allow engine operation whenever the LNG supply system is not able to deliver fuel. This proposal would define requirements to enable the certification of these components.

Proposal for discussion to enable the certification of CNG compressor components. Due to density and temperature constraints, LNG fuel systems require technologies to warm the LNG fuel to reach temperatures and pressures suitable for the engine. In some configurations, this involves the use of CNG compressors. Therefore, this proposal seeks to enable use of this technology through establishment of requirements to ensure safety.

Proposal to clarify the test procedure to be applied in assessing compliance with the requirement for “compatibility with heat exchange fluids of non-metallic parts” Annex 5Q is part of UN Regulation No. 110. In Annex 4D, the wording “Compatibility with heat exchange fluids” is used but there is no reference to the applicable tests. The proposal clarifies that the “LNG heat exchanger – vaporizer” falls within Annex 5Q. The proposal correspondingly clarifies the general overview Figure 1-2, with all tests from Annex 5, and Table 5.1 in Annex 5.

Proposal to correct document GRSG/2016/20 where the reference to “Annex 5, paragraph 4” should be to paragraph 3.

Proposal to correct the omission of Class VII devices from the communication form described under Annex 3 of the regulation.

Proposal for minimum amendments to GTR No. 6 pending conclusion of NHTSA research and for further amendment concerning ceramic printer areas and sunroof safety testing.

Proposal to correct document GRSG/2017/15 based upon comparison against GTR No. 6. The table being revised is in Annex 18 (not 21). This proposal further corrects several values in the table per the original table developed under GTR 6.

1. Document GRSG/2017/22 proposed by Turkey raised concerns regarding the location on the vehicle of the filling unit and a limitation of the service life of LPG containers
2. In order to prevent a proliferation of different service-life specifications, AEGPL proposes a fixed mandatory service live of 10 years.

Discussion of the evolution of UN R73 with a proposal to update load requirements for lateral protection devices:

• Application of a force of 3kN perpendicular to the device (as currently defined)
• Max. strain under loading at 90mm over the 250mm most rearwards part
• Max. strain under loading at 450mm on the other parts.

Proposal as amended following GRSG discussions to clarify the camera monitor provisions with regard to the use of image overlays. The current English text can be interpreted to allow overlays only when the vehicle is moving in reverse. In particular, this resulted in an unambiguous translation into French allowing overlays only when the vehicle is in reverse gear. The original intent was to limit overlays to rear views of the vehicle regardless of the moving vehicle direction. Therefore, this proposal clarifies the English and French texts.

Updated proposal to correct the omission of Class VII devices from the communication form described under Annex 3 of the regulation.

Revised proposal to introduce requirements for color contrast for signage and provisions for passengers with limited mobility. Based upon the new general guidelines developed for Revision 3 of the 1958 Agreement, the new requirements would transition into application from September 2020 for new types of vehicles and September 2022 for all existing types.

Explanatory information, revised for discussion during the 113th GRSG session, from the AECS informal group regarding the provisions in document GRSG/2016/19 for the new UN Regulation on automatic emergency call systems.

Proposal to require marking of extension numbers on accessories relevant to the UN R67 bonfire test (e.g., multivalve, pressure relief valve, pressure relief device) in order to prevent/prohibit the misuse (in container configurations) of these accessories. The proposal includes provisions for components where such marking is impractical based upon text drawn from UN R46.

Proposal to harmonize the requirements for CNG/LNG vehicles under UN R110 with those of the international standard ISO 11439:2013.

Proposal to delete footnote ¹⁸ of Table 1 regarding telltale no. 1 (Master lighting switch) when it is combined with telltale no. 19 (Position, side marker, and/or end-outline marker lamps). The footnote is redundant and potentially confusing since UN R121 already refers to paragraph 5. of ISO 2575-2004 which states, “A given symbol may be shown in more than one of the colours specified in 5.1 in order to convey a change in the operating condition.”
