Review of justifications for proposed specifications.

Review of ISO 16505 and applicability to type approval under UN R46 as amended for camera-monitor systems (Annex 12).

Review of the latest amendments to UN Regulation 46 as adopted by WP.29 through its March 2014 meetings which have not yet been fully incorporated into the IGCMS working draft to amend UN R46 with regard to camera-monitor systems.

Proposal for pixel fault (white and dark blemish) testing of monitors in camera-monitor systems.

Explanation of pixel fault testing. Pixel faults arise erratically across production and cannot be directly quantified by testing product samples. Moreover, pixel faults are a problem only when they affect visual perceptions of the driver. Therefore, the testing needs to determine the probability for a “disturbing” disruption of the image that could significantly interfere with a driver’s perception of the image.

Working draft of Annex 12 on functional safety requirements under development by the Informal Group on Camera-Monitor Systems for introduction into UN R46 to enable the replacement of rear-view mirrors with CMS devices.

Presentation reviewing ISO 16505 treatment of overlays, comparison of UN R46 Annex 12 current proposals with ISO 16505, and a new OICA proposal.

Presentation on current positions for allowed and disallowed configurations of rear-view monitor systems and OICA proposal for regulatory language.

Report of the third meeting of the expert group working on an amendment to enable the type approval of camera-monitor systems in place of rear-view mirrors.

Correction to paragraph 12.3 so it reads " As from 24 months after the date of entry into force of the 01 series of amendments, Contracting Parties applying this Regulation shall grant type approvals only if the vehicle type to be approved meets the requirements of this Regulation as amended by the 01 series of amendments."

Correction to the transitional provisions.

OICA raises a number of concerns over the direction of the AECS discussions including implications for all “connectivity” technologies. OICA stresses need for AECS to establish true harmonization through performance (rather than design) requirements and for mutual recognition under the 1958 Agreement as well as to maintain the focus on vehicles (as opposed to unwarranted digressions into broader infrastructure, telecommunications systems, bandwidth, etc.).

Text prepared by the informal group of experts on Regulation No. 55 to introduce amendments on requirements for movable couplings, increased range of application of remote controls to couplings similar to C50-X and G50-X, possible increase of characteristic values of standard couplings and to include of further requirements on the mounting of couplings.
