Proposal from Sweden in order to harmonize the airbag warning label in UN R16 with UN R94 (frontal collision).

Superseding document GRSP-51-14, the proposal aligns UN R16 with UN R94 (frontal collision) with regard to airbag warning labels. The proposal addresses distinctions between front passenger airbags and other types of airbags (such as lateral).

Pursuant to discussions from the 44th GRSP session, the secretariat has drafted this proposal to consolidate the transitional provisions of UN R16 as a basis for a discussion on simplifying and correcting the current text of the regulation.

The requirements for the airbag warning label were recently amended by Supplement 4 to the 01 series of amendments and by Supplement 1 to the 02 series of amendments to Regulation 94. It therefore appears necessary to align the corresponding prescriptions of Regulation 16.

Text adopted by the Working Party on Passive Safety (GRSP) at its fiftieth session to align the provisions of UN Regulation No. 16 with those of the new draft UN Regulation on Child Restraint Systems (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/2012/53).
