WP.29 voted to align UN Regulation procedures with the EU Whole Vehicle Approval Directive 2007/46/EC. This document proposes revisions to regulations under the purview of GRSG per the revised UN Regulatory Procedures and Transitional Provisions (document WP.29/1044/Rev.1).

Text prepared by the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA) to introduce the concept of “revision of approvals” in the UN Regulations under the responsibility of the Working Party on General Safety Provisions (GRSG).

Proposal to avoid imposing administrative burdens on small glazing that is not required for the driver’s forward or rearward field of vision.

Paragraph 5.3.1. refers to Appendix 8 of Annex 1. OICA believes that the reference should be to Appendix 10 of Annex 1 and so proposes this correction.

OICA and CLEPA comments on the Korean proposal to amend GTR No. 6 and UN Regulation No. 43 in response to issues identified in its defect investigation concerning panoramic sunroofs.

Reproduction of the proposal submitted to GRSG in order to clarify the intended scope of the regulation and to align the drop ball test language with that of UN Regulation No. 43 and ISO ISO 3537.

The text of the German proposal (document GRSG/2016/21) in the tables in annexes 14 and 16 only refers to small windows as “windows into which a circle of diameter D < 150 mm is capable of being scribed”. OICA proposes to add the criterion of a maximum area limited to 200 cm² in order to align with the definition in paragraph 2.39 (“pane having an area of less than 200 cm² and within which it is not possible to inscribe a circle having a diameter of 150 mm”).

Proposal for amendments pursuant to the introduction of a headform impact test.

Proposal to specify the requirements for the headform test. This test should not be mandatory for vehicles where the protection of the occupant’s head is not achieved by the glazing itself, rather by a restraint system or other means.

Proposal to resolve such an inconsistency with UN R125 to harmonize the location of the lower datum point (at 5°) of the angle of obstruction requirement in
paragraph 5.1.3. (at 4°).

Proposal to align UN R43 with a proposed amendment to UN R125 (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRSG/2026/23), which resolves a longstanding inconsistency between the lower datum point definition (§5.1.1.3) and the obstruction requirement (§5.1.3) by harmonizing the lower datum point angle from 5° to 4°.
