21. On behalf of the Special Interest Group on Thermal Propagation Electric Vehicle Safety (SIG TP EVS), the expert from EC introduced a proposal for a new 05 series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 100 aiming at the improved requirements concerning thermal propagation and approval of electric powered vehicles (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRSP/2024/18 and informal documents GRSP-76-08 and GRSP-76-39). The expert from OICA suggested modifying the proposal by extending the transitional provisions (informal document GRSP-76-34). Following an in-depth discussion, GRSP adopted the proposal as amended by informal document GRSP-76-08-Rev.1 and requested the secretariat to submit it for consideration and vote to WP.29 and AC.1 at their sessions in March 2025 as a proposal for a 05 series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 100.
22. GRSP adopted a SIG TP EVS proposal, namely ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRSP/2024/22 as amended by informal document GRSP-76-09, and requested the secretariat to submit it for consideration and vote to WP.29 and AC.1 at their sessions in March 2025 as proposals for supplement 5 to the 03 series of amendments and supplement 2 to the 04 series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 100.
23. The expert from the Russian Federation pointed out inconsistent translations into Russian of the term “Rechargeable Electrical Energy Storage System (REESS)” in UN Regulation No. 100 and other UN Regulations (informal document GRSP-76-04). He requested that, in the future, only the Russian term from the Mutual Resolution No. 2 (M.R.2) be used, namely “Перезаряжаемая система хранения электрической энергии (ПСХЭЭ)”. GRSP noted this request and asked the secretariat to inform the United Nations translation services accordingly.
24. The expert from the Republic of Korea introduced informal document GRSP-76-13, showing issues related to electric vehicles caught on fire and the difficulties of opening doors activated electrically. GRSP agreed that this should be considered further, given that neither UN Regulation No. 11 nor UN GTR No. 1 include requirements for electrically activated doors. It was agreed to resume discussion on this topic at the May 2025 session of GRSP.
25. The expert from the Russian Federation introduced informal document GRSP-76-05, reiterating his proposal to identify electric vehicles with a sticker. The expert from OICA stated that this proposal was more of a concern for regional products and reminded GRSP about the accident emergency call system, regulated by UN Regulation No. 144, that provides backup in accident situations. The expert from the Russian Federation argued that in many regions of the world internet was not available (e.g. Central Asia) and that the cost of a sticker was 1 euro, and encouraged contracting parties to provide their opinion on this subject. GRSP agreed to resume discussion on this subject at its May 2025 session.
