Proposal to define provisions for “Integral” and “Non-Integral” Enhanced Child Restraint Systems (ECRS). “Integral” refers to systems where the child is restrained only by components which comprise the ECRS (e.g. strap harness, impact shield, etc.), and not by means connected directly to the vehicle (e.g. adult seat belt). “Non-Integral”, then, refers to systems where the child is retained by use of the adult seat belt connected directly to the vehicle. This proposal represents “Phase 1” in the development of UN R129.
