Agenda item 4.9.3. Proposal for Supplement 18 to the 02 series of amendments to Regulation No. 30

Proposal to

amend the tyre dimensional requirements,
amend the requirements for the load/speed performance test,
align definitions and content with the other tyre regulations (UN Regulations Nos. 117, 54, 75 etc.),
include a definition of “manufacturer” extracted from the resolution R.E.3,
adopt a common definition and use of the terms “Manufacturer’s name”, “Brand name”, “Trademark”, “Trade description” and “Commercial name” and their links, and
add information in the certificate to enable approval authorities to more easily understand the products the certificate addresses.

31. The expert from ETRTO introduced ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRRF/2015/23 proposing to amend tyre dimensional requirements in Regulation No. 30. GRRF adopted the proposal with the following correction:
Annex 6, paragraph 1.2.4, amend to read:

“1.2.4. in reinforced tyres: to 2.2 bar ~~2.3 bar~~;”

32. The expert from ETRTO introduced ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRRF/2015/24 proposing to amend requirements for the load/speed performance test. GRRF adopted this proposal.

33. GRRF requested the secretariat to submit both adopted proposals above to WP.29 and AC.1 for consideration at their June 2016 sessions, as Supplement 18 to the 02 series of amendments to Regulation No. 30.

31. The expert from France introduced ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRRF/2016/11 together with ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRRF/2016/13 and ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRRF/2016/14 respectively under agenda items 7(c) and 7(g) below, proposing revised clarifications of the definitions. GRRF adopted the proposal and requested the secretariat to submit them to WP.29 and AC.1 for consideration and vote at their June 2016 sessions, as draft Supplement 18 to the 02 series of amendments to Regulation No. 30, as part of the draft Supplement 21 to Regulation No. 54 and as draft Supplement 9 to the 02 series of amendments to Regulation No. 117.

With 38 of the 47 Contracting Parties applying UN R30 present and voting, AC.1 adopted document WP.29/2016/51 by a vote of 38 in favor, 0 opposed, with 0 abstaining.

30. The expert from France introduced ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRRF/2016/34 with provisions for tyres designed for a “special” application which also fulfil the definition of a “snow” tyre.

31. GRRF adopted both proposals and requested the secretariat to submit them as draft Supplement 19 to the 02 series of amendments to Regulation No. 30 (Tyres for passenger cars and their trailers) to WP.29 and AC.1 for consideration and vote at their June 2017 sessions.
