| Input for EDR Step 3 topics |
| Reference Number: SG-EDR-48-06 |
|
European Commission priorities for EDR Step 3 include improving detection of vehicle-to-vulnerable road user collisions and low-severity vehicle-to-vehicle collisions through adjusting delta-v trigger thresholds, developing new jerk-based trigger criteria, and exploring ADS collision detection for EDR triggering in automated vehicles on a long-term timeline. Data elements and format must be ensured to remain up-to-date with new safety system developments and close gaps between light and heavy vehicles through reviewing data elements in light of newly regulated safety systems and mirroring DDAW, ADDW and DCAS data elements from UN R160 to UN R169 on short-term and ongoing timelines. |

| Reference Number: AEBS2-02-03/Rev.1 |
|
The Informal Working Group on Advanced Emergency Braking System held its 2nd meeting on 18 June 2026. Australia had submitted documents GRVA/2026/21 and GRVA-25-36 proposing amendments to UN R152. For para. 2.14, the group agreed to insert a footnote stating “this value is understood to be a minimum value,” with a working document to be prepared for next GRVA. For para. 5.2.1.1, Australia withdrew its proposal to remove the 0.8s TTC warning condition after safety concerns were raised. CLEPA-OICA, UK and Australia will prepare a clarification proposal for next GRVA. |

Proposal to add a new example and update text based on discussions by the OPI group aimed at finalizing the GID. The revised text adds that the ADS does not transit to a safe state in accordance with the manufacturers defined response as documented in the safety case, and removes provisions regarding the chosen stop location. The group agreed to further work in the next phase on situations where the chosen stop location could have contributed to a collision involving the ADS vehicle before it has moved from that location. |

Japan submitted comments on RXSWIN assignment at the 38th CS/OTA IWG. Q.1 asks whether, when a type approval is extended from UN R156-00 to UN R156-01, RXSWIN may be assigned at extension time, and if a UN Regulation refers to RE.3 Annex 7 through a supplementary amendment after UN R156-01 transitional provisions become applicable, whether RXSWIN is assigned at that time. Q.2 asks whether Approval Authorities other than the Authority granting approval are expected to have access to the OEM’s Auditable Register, as access information appears provided only to the Approval Authority concerned through paragraph 9.5.2. Q.3 asks whether software updates affecting type approval can be performed under Regulations that do not reference RE.3 Annex 7. |

| Position on GRVA/2026/30 |
| Reference Number: TFCS-39-07 |
|
OICA, CLEPA, and CLCCR oppose the requirement in GRVA/2026/30 for a single Approval Authority to issue the Certificate of Compliance for CSMS/SUMS and vehicle type approval. They contend the approach would create multiple approvals of the same Management System, imposing administrative burden and creating unresolved legal consequences if a CoC is challenged. The organizations propose adding a new paragraph 5.1.5. instead of paragraph 5.1.3. e) to permit mutual agreement between Approval Authorities, allowing usage of a CoC issued by another Approval Authority, with such agreement documented in type approval documentation. |

Proposal to insert new paras. 27 and 28 in Part C Guidance for the application of UN Regulation No. 155 to transformed vehicles. Para. 27 states the requirement that the Certificate of Compliance and type approval are issued by the same Approval Authority applies only within the scope of the type approval granted to the manufacturer concerned. Para. 28 states where a vehicle manufacturer modifies a vehicle with existing type approval and applies for new type approval covering the modification, they need not use the same type approval authority as was used by the original vehicle manufacturer. |

| Reference Number: SG-EDR-48-07 |
|
Proposal to amend footnote 25 to reduce the maximum number of recorded DCAS warnings from 15 to 10 per current ignition cycle. The justification presented cites data burden reduction while retaining information about habitual driver disengagement patterns. Supporting documentation references two autopilot collision cases—Florida 2016 and California 2018—where recorded warnings within existing data retention periods would have revealed repeated disengagement that current recording parameters miss, demonstrating that 10 warnings combined with extended recording duration enables identification of ineffective warning strategies. |

| V2H Communication System Research Results: Visual Communication-Technology for ADS Feature Support |
| Reference Number: AVSR-33-04 |
|
V2H Communication System Research Results documents a National Project supported by Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport conducted across three phases from 2021 to 2026. The research develops vehicle-to-human communication technology for autonomous driving systems through study of communication cases, validation of V2H elements, technology development, and road demonstrations. Survey findings indicate hybrid projection and display approaches achieve 77.7% positive response rates. Trust in autonomous vehicles increased from 24.0% to 41.5%, and safety perception improved from 21.6% to 37.3%. Projection messages reduce pedestrian crossing decision time by 3.64 seconds and ensure 100% crossing decisions with yielding messages across all demographics. Cyan-colored text-based messaging demonstrates superior visibility and user preference ratings of 3.9 to 4.2 on a 5-point scale compared to symbol-based formats. |

For vehicles equipped with an Automated Driving System, it shall be possible to retrieve DSSAD time-stamp data elements specified under paragraph 5.2. of Annex 8 of UN Regulation No. 185 recorded within at least the last 30 seconds prior to triggering of the respective EDR event, regardless of whether the DSSAD and the EDR are implemented as a single system or as separate systems. The time-stamp data elements retrievable from the DSSAD shall include the record for the last activation or deactivation of the feature used at the time of the event within the same power cycle. The data elements shall be retrievable in the format specified in Annex 8 of UN Regulation No. 185, though DSSAD location data may be omitted and dates and times recorded may be replaced with information representing the time elapsed between the recording of each DSSAD data element and the triggering of the EDR. |

| EDR and Driver Drowsiness and Attention Warning (DDAW) recording duration |
| Reference Number: SG-EDR-48-11 |
|
A study of 24 professional truck drivers investigated how drowsiness develops during real-road driving to test a DDAW system. At night, 17 of 24 drivers reached a KSS level of 8, with average time to reach KSS 8 being 56 minutes. Ten drivers chose to stop or were requested to stop in the sleep-deprived condition. A DDAW recording window of 600 s would fail to capture information relevant to the EDR, whereas time windows of up to one hour could provide important indications of increased driver fatigue. |
