12. The expert from Germany tabled a proposal to clarify that only light-signalling devices may incorporate an illuminated manufacturer logo (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRE/2024/13 and GRE-91-24), meaning that such logos would be prohibited for road illumination devices and retro-reflectors. GRE experts generally supported the proposal and suggested modifications to the text. The expert from OICA hold the view that the prohibition could lead to problems with existing lamps and, thus, should be introduced by a new series of amendments with transitional provisions.
13. Following an in-depth discussion, GRE realized that fine tuning of the text would require more time and agreed to continue consideration at the next session. Meanwhile, GRE urged type approval authorities to refrain from granting type approvals to road illumination devices and retro-reflectors with illuminated manufacturer logos.
14. The expert from France introduced amendment proposals that included work lamps in the scope of UN Regulation No. 48 (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRE/2024/12, GRE-91-18-Rev.1). A number of GRE experts made comments on the proposals. GRE was not in a position to reach a consensus on the issue and decided to revert to it at the next session on the basis of a revised document to be prepared by France.
15. The expert from GTB introduced a revised proposal that allowed the projection of a pattern for predicted trajectory (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRE/2024/15). The expert from Japan thanked GTB for having resolved his concerns and supported the proposal. Subject to a reservation of the expert from France, GRE adopted the proposal and requested the secretariat to submit it for consideration and vote at the March 2025 sessions of WP.29 and AC.1 as draft Supplement 21 to the 06 series, draft Supplement 8 to the 07 series, draft Supplement 6 to the 08 series and draft Supplement 1 to the 09 series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 48.
16. GRE recalled the perceived blueish colour of the white light emitted by front lighting units, as previously reported by the expert from France (GRE-89-24). GRE noted that this issue was being followed up by the GTB Group Photometry and decided to keep it on the agenda of the next session.
17. GRE recalled GRE-90-22 and noted that OICA would prepare a proposal for the next session to remove the current restriction in paragraph 6.12.1. which prohibits the fitting of parking lamps on vehicles which exceed 2 m in width.
18. GRE noted the progress report of the Task Force on Lamps Under Parked Conditions (TF LUPC) (GRE-91-09), in particular the outcome of its survey on the lamp test mode and energy indicator. The Chair invited GRE experts to provide feedback to TF LUPC and to take part in its activities, including the next session on 16 January 2025.
