| Proposal concerning extended application of certified characteristic performance values in UN R55 |
| Reference Number: R55-06-06 |
|
Proposal to modify performance calculations and limits under UN R55. Currently UN R55 prohibits a vehicle combination with required performance values Dreq, Dc-req, Vreq and Sreq where Dc-cert ≤ Dc-req ≤ Dcert and Vreq ≤ Vcert. However, a requirement combination such as Vreq = 0.1* Vcert and Dc-req ≤ Dcert +0.1*( Dcert – Dc-cert) better reflects the real-world situation commonly found in combinations comprising a rigid truck, converter dolly, and semi-trailer. |

| Proposal for further amendments to Regulation No. 10 |
| Reference Number: GRE-71-26 |
|
Text originally prepared by Belgium to propose amendments to Regulation No. 107 to align the additional safety prescriptions for trolleybuses (Annex 12) with the corresponding electrical standards (see document GRSG/2013/16). During discussion in the October 2013 session of GRSG, some Contracting Parties felt that the prescriptions for electromagnetic compatibility of trolleybuses belong in Regulation No. 10. So these prescriptions are taken out of the amended proposal (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRSG/2014/19) and are proposed here for consideration by GRE for further action. |

In document GRSG/2013/29, the AEGPL proposed to introduce new provisions into Regulation No. 67 for preventing the flow of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) into the petrol or diesel tank, and vice versa in order to address a potential safety risk in bi-fuel or dual-fuel vehicles. At the 105th GRSG session, Germany requested a more detailed test procedure. Therefore, this proposal responds to the German request, improves certain descriptions of requirements, and provides comments to justify the various provisions. |

Supplement 1 to the 01 series included requirements for the positioning of LNG tanks. While the Netherlands believes that mounting the LNG fuel tank 200mm above the road surface is broadly adequate; this proposal aims to ensure that the fuel tank cannot, under any normal driving or stationary working situations, come into contact with the ground. The new wording provides more definitive conditions, including the possibility of a vehicle having one or more flat tires as well as for those vehicles that have ‘kneeling’ capability or variable suspension, both of which lower the frame of the vehicle closer to the ground. |

| Concerns regarding proposed amendments to UN Regulation No. 58 |

Query concerning the intent of the proposed changes to the test procedures for rear underrun protection devices (RUPD). Sweden believes that the wording of the amendments proposed in document GRSG/2014/18 would change the nature of RUPD from being generic devices for installation across ranges of vehicle types to being vehicle-specific devices requiring repetitive testing for approval to be installed on a range of vehicles. Therefore, Sweden raises the question of whether this is the intent of the German proposal. |

| Pixel fault test procedures to determine worst case probabilities |
| Reference Number: CMS II-03-09 |
|
Explanation of pixel fault testing. Pixel faults arise erratically across production and cannot be directly quantified by testing product samples. Moreover, pixel faults are a problem only when they affect visual perceptions of the driver. Therefore, the testing needs to determine the probability for a “disturbing” disruption of the image that could significantly interfere with a driver’s perception of the image. |

OICA raises a number of concerns over the direction of the AECS discussions including implications for all “connectivity” technologies. OICA stresses need for AECS to establish true harmonization through performance (rather than design) requirements and for mutual recognition under the 1958 Agreement as well as to maintain the focus on vehicles (as opposed to unwarranted digressions into broader infrastructure, telecommunications systems, bandwidth, etc.). |

The newly introduced systems to detect excessive temperatures and/or smoke enable the driver to act immediately to ensure the safety of the passengers. This implies the possibility of braking, stopping, or some other response which could impact other road users. Therefore, this proposal would require the hazard warning lights to be activated (which will require consideration by the WP.29 Working Party on Lighting and Light-signalling Equipment). The proposal also proposes transitional provisions for the implementation of the new requirements. |

In document GRSG/2014/22, the EC proposes to align Annex 11 of UN R107 with Regulation (EU) 1230/2012 (type approval of vehicles with regard to their masses and dimensions). However, the volume and location of masses – including baggage masses – impacts many basic parameters of buses like total mass in running order, axle loads, CG position, etc. and related UN Regulations. This document raises issues for consideration during the review of the EC proposal. |

UN R116 specifies operating voltages and voltage limits. Current technology and intelligent battery management systems allow for precise control and definition of these parameters. This includes “intelligent” operating ranges in order to optimize energy management (CO2 emission reduction). Fixed operating voltage ranges are therefore unnecessary or even may hinder efforts for CO2 emission reduction in the future. OICA proposes language to modify the design-restrictive language. |
