At its fifty-ninth session, GRSP approved a proposal for the 07 series of amendments to UN R16 ( (GRSP/2016/2 and GRSP/59, page 24) to mandate safety belt reminders for all vehicle seats. This proposal aligns provisions in UN R121 with the changes to UN R16:
a) the term “seat belt” is replaced by “safety belt”,
b) the symbol for safety belt, defined in item 21 of Table 1 in the Regulation, may be displayed in different colours to convey different meanings. Therefore, the existing footnote ¹⁸ has been added to item 21, and
c) this symbol may be replaced by different symbols for seats other than those of the front row. Therefore, a new footnote ²² is added to item 21.

Paragraph 5.1.5. is modified and paragraph 5.1.7. introduced to take into consideration the strict content of GRSP/59, page 24, paragraphs 8.4.3.2.1. and 8.4.4. on safety-belt reminder for occupants of rear seat row(s). This proposal does not change any of the technical requirements of UN R121.

Proposal prepared by the Chair of the Informal Working Group (IWG) on Accident Emergency Call Systems (AECS) for a draft UN Regulation on new provisions for AECS. It is mainly based GRSG/2016/19, distributed during the 111th session of the Working Party on General Safety Provisions (GRSG) and includes the modifications proposed by the IWG on AECS in informal document GRSG-111-07, as agreed by GRSG at its 111th session.

Proposal prepared by the GRSG Secretariat pursuant to discussions of document GRSG/2016/24. The proposal aims to improve and clarify provisions concerning the approval of interior materials, cables and insulation materials. The proposal adds new requirements for cable sleeves and conduits, modifies vertical testing requirements under Annex 8 to allow testing of small test samples and to clarify their fixation to the specimen holder., and adds a new Annex 10 on provisions for testing of electrical cables.

UN R55 informal group proposal for:

1. An amendment for the separation of the procedures to verify towable mass from the procedure of setting and certifying performance values;
2. An amendment that adds procedures to verify towable mass for vehicle combinations that have hitherto not been accounted for in the Regulation;
3. Amendments that adds integrated fixing points for secondary couplings;
4. An amendment that clarifies the procedure to identify worst cases for certification testing;
5. Amendments that removes typos in the current Regulation.
