Proposal to align the provisions for retreaded tyres to be tested and marked with the three-peak-mountain snow-flake (3PMSF) symbol with the amendment proposals to UN R117 (document GRBP/2019/19).

Proposal for an amendment to complement the content of working document GRVA/2018/5. The proposal includes amendments to:

1. The Standard Reference Test Tyre (SRTT) denominations
2. Remove the discrimination between the two Class C3 tyres
3. Clarify that there are no C3 tyres in the scope of this UN Regulation “not marked with speed symbol”
4. Align Annex 6 with the most recent amendments made to standard ISO 28580
5. Define “standard deviation” as appropriate in the text
6. Clarify that, in the cases of C2 and C3 tyres, the “Reference (test) pressure” and the value “Pr” correspond to the indication of the inflation pressure which is always marked on the sidewall
7. Use “repeatability” in lieu of inaccurate “reproducibility”
8. Update test report forms
9. Include the date on which the new proposed supplement of UN Regulation No. 117 will apply
10. Improve the description of the evaluation of the rolling sound emission test
Correct the figure in Annex 2, Appendix 2, and
11. Update cross references pursuant to paragraph renumbering.

Proposal to correct inconsistencies on the exemption conditions for the additional sound emission provisions (ASEP) for vehicles with variable gear ratios or automatic transmission with non-lockable gear ratios.

Proposal to clarify that the gear ratio i+1 by definition has an acceleration (not an “engine speed”) lower than gear ratio i.

Proposal to introduce mandatory additional sound emission provisions (ASEP) testing.

Proposal to define “electronic” as a “principle of operation by electric or electro-magnetic force with amplifier and speaker or resonator”.

Proposal is to correct an omission regarding the compensating resevoir fill time thereby aligning UN R41 with the other noise UN Regulations Nos. 9, 51 and 63.

Proposal to allow multiple exhaust and/or silencing system configurations to be explicitly listed under the same motorcycle type approval in order to reduce redundancy and number of separate approvals and documentation.

Proposal to reconcile UN R138 with UN R51 with regard to maximum sound pressure levels at speeds greater than 20 km/h by clarifying that the 75 dB(A) limit for AVAS under UN R138 concerns only the 0-20 km/h speed range.

Open issues for discussion, including “starting tests” questions and the number of RD-ASEP tests to be conducted between 10 and 100 km/h.

ASEP II informal group amendments to paragraphs 1, 2, 6.2.3., 6.2.4.
