The European Association of Automotive Suppliers (CLEPA) proposes changes to the Dutch proposal (GRSG/2011/23) that would enable the replacement of mirrors by camera monitor systems. This document is based on informal document GRSG-101-03.

CLEPA proposes to amend the wording of paragraph 5.1. to clarify how to proceed with a test in boiling water, which is permitted for safety glazing with both external surfaces of inorganic material. The tolerance of +0 °C / -2 °C is taken from ISO 3917, high temperature test. The temperature of boiling water can be determined with the required accuracy easily.

Proposal to define a reduced vision zone I for vehicles of categories M and N other than M₁.

Proposal to amend Figure 2a of Annex 21 to better reflect the meaning of paragraph 2.4.2.2. of Annex 21, mainly to clarify the lateral limits of any opaque obscuration in this area.

Proposal to add a missing footnote concerning the exemptions for heaters located outside the passenger compartment using water as a transfer medium and to clarify that it is not necessary to apply Annex 4 for the heat pump because the heat transfer fluid does not contain polluting air.

• introduce approval mark provisions for components and STUs.

CLEPA presentation asserting that inflatable car seat systems being approved under UN R44 fail to comply with the regulation’s requirements because the lap portion of the belt intrudes into the abdomen of the dummy, leading to a submarining situation.

The current CRS label describes the dangers of using a child restraint system with an active front seat passenger airbag and was designed to correspond with the in-vehicle label of UN R94. Since the latter has been changed into a style without text, this proposal similarly revises the CRS version.

Revision of Table 1 of the new draft regulation on child restraint systems to replace the bench foam of UN R44 with the foam of the New Programme for the Assessment of Child restraint Systems (NPACS) used during the regulation’s evaluation phase and adopted by the informal group.
