During the consultations, the expert from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Co-Chair of the IWG on Cyber Security and Software Updates, presented the status report of the group (GRVA-22-29) including the current considerations regarding multi-stage approval of vehicles with regards to cyber security. The experts discussed the possibility to prioritize activities for simpler cases.
35. GRVA endorsed the status report of the IWG on CS/OTA (GRVA-22-29).
36. During the consultations, the expert from France proposed (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRVA/2025/28 as amended by GRVA-22-11) to clarify the software identification number requirements in UN Regulation No. 156 (software updates and software update management systems) and Revision 7 of the Consolidated Resolution on the Construction of Vehicles (R.E.3). The expert from OICA presented an alternative proposal (GRVA-22-22). The experts produced revisions of GRVA-22-11 during the week.
37. GRVA noted GRVA-22-22.
38. GRVA adopted ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRVA/2025/28 (as amended by GRVA-22-11/Rev.2) for submission to WP.29 and AC.1 in November 2025, pending further review at GRVA in September 2025.
39. During the consultations, the experts were informed of the discussions held during workshops co-organized by the experts from Japan and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on possible approaches that could support countries and regions in managing software updates within national processes (e.g. registration documentation) and separately on multi-stage vehicles regarding their approvals to UN Regulation No. 155.
40. GRVA endorsed the status report GRVA-22-30 on the activities of the Workshop on the implementation of UN Regulations Nos. 155 and 156.
