During the consultations, the expert from France proposed (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRVA/2025/28 as amended by GRVA-22-11) to clarify the software identification number requirements in UN Regulation No. 156 (software updates and software update management systems) and Revision 7 of the Consolidated Resolution on the Construction of Vehicles (R.E.3). The expert from OICA presented an alternative proposal (GRVA-22-22). The experts produced revisions of GRVA-22-11 during the week.
37. GRVA noted GRVA-22-22.
38. GRVA adopted ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRVA/2025/28 (as amended by GRVA-22-11/Rev.2) for submission to WP.29 and AC.1 in November 2025, pending further review at GRVA in September 2025.
78. The World Forum considered draft amendments under agenda items 4.10.1 and 4.10.9 recommended their submission to AC.1 for voting, with the following amendments:
- In ECE/TRANS/WP.29/2025/139, title, for “Supplement 13” read Supplement 12”,
- In ECE/TRANS/WP.29/2025/140, title, for “Supplement 12” read Supplement 13”,
- In ECE/TRANS/WP.29/2025/142, Appendix 1 to Annex 1, line before “Manufacturer Name”, introduce an item to read: “UN Regulation No. 156 series of amendments number:” and in Annex 4, for “provisions of Regulation No. [this Regulation]” read “provisions of the 01 series of amendments to Regulation No. 156.”
82. The World Forum considered two proposals for amendments to R.E.3 (Revision 8) (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/2025/146 and ECE/TRANS/WP.29/2025/147) under agenda items 4.14.1 and 4.14.2 submitted respectively by GRSG and GRVA, to introduce new categories of vehicles X and Y equipped with Automated Driving Systems. WP.29 adopted unanimously ECE/TRANS/WP.29/2025/146 and ECE/TRANS/WP.29/2025/147, as amended by WP.29-197-06, and requested the Secretariat to combine them together as Revision 8 to R.E.3.
